Installation method:
Just rez to land and it will work.
The default extension range is 100m.
Extends the chat range of all avatars in the lot, regardless of the object's rez position.
The menu allows you to change the following:
1) Status -- You can check the setting status of HC.Extender

"Floor Limit" -- Limits can only be set on the same floor (20m). Also, if you set this, only the Range radius from the controller will expand the chat.
3) Parcel -- parcel range (within a single parcel or within the same owner parcel or within the same group parcel)
4) Attachment -- You can specify whether to forward attachment messages.
5) GroupOnly -- chat expansion scope is restricted to same group tag members

7) Notification -- Choose whether you want to receive notifications of entering and exiting lots.
8) Visible -- controller visibility settings (invisible, visible, auto-hide)
9) Reset -- Reset

- It's works for all peoples on same group's parcel
Works great and easy!
I recommend this to everyone. It works very well, reliably, and is easy to configure. Also works across several parcels as long as they are set to the same group or owned by the same entity.
SUPERB!
This chat extender is so simple to setup and works consistently. I like that you also have the option for it to read text from objects like spankers or translators. Each visitor also has the option to type a command to turn the extender off if they want less local chat to read.
If you have your land deeded to a group you will need to do a couple extra steps so it will function when the product owner is offline. This is an SL issue not this product's issue as I had to do this for products such as a cotton candy machine.
1, Rez (not deed) the chat extender under the group the land is deeded to.
2. Go to About Land > Options > Build and tick the box for Group
Please note doing this will allow any and all group members to rez regardless of how you have rez rights assigned within the group roles. I ended up making a separate group for Land Management and deeded my land to it. Then anyone who joined the VIP group doesn't have the ability to rez. If your place is group access only then I guess all you can do is buy the extender under a bot account and leave it online 24/7.
Doesnt work
Dropped it, set all the settings i needed only to find out...it only works when I am logged in. Would NOT recommend. I even did a redelivery and still having the same issue.
Easy to set up. Easy to Use
This is worth all the positive reviews it gets. There are cheaper ones on the market, but I am glad I bought this one. It did the job right from res. The menu is easy to use and it is easy to tuck out of the way in places. This is the one that works and works immediately. Good value.
This worked great!
This was just what I needed. And for 500L I couldn't be happier with it!
A happy upgrade
I had been using a different chat extender for my club that was prominently listed in Marketplace and had some good reviews. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it sort of worked and sometimes it didn't work at all. I was constantly getting complaints from DJs and hosts about it.
The maker pointed out that I could list staff names in the device so they could have reset permission, but that meant listing more than a hundred names of regular, part time and "stand-in" DJs and hosts and then constantly changing them as people on staff come and go. Also when a chat extender is not working you don't necessarily know it right away, and for a period of time venue visitors are under the impression they haven't been greeted or noticed.
I began searching for a replacement and observed this HC Designs extender in action on another region. I bought it, installed it, and never heard another staff complaint. I should add that Hiro Ember, the maker, is helpful with questions and is very committed to customer satisfaction.
