Exactly what I hoped it would be!!
Great product! This gorgeous thermostat is slightly oversized (and resizable), it has a realistic gleam, and it looks terrific from a distance. It is also SO cleverly packaged and bundled. Most of all, I was really excited to find a Nest thermostat in Marketplace with copy/mod permissions!
You see, my Second Life house stretches across two parcels, so I use a multi-parcel radio system. The default radio receiver is this ugly trapezoidal prim. A long time ago—before I knew anything about textures or anything—I reskinned the prim to look more like a vent, then hid it in plain sight near my baseboard. At the time I thought I was VERY clever.
Anyway, tonight it occurred to me that a THERMOSTAT would make a much better disguise for a multi-parcel radio receiver!! These Nest thermostats by HILL were an instantaneous "buy now" purchase for me. Next, I picked out my favorite thermostat ("cool" set to 74, since it is July in California), and then I dragged a no-copy "antenna" script from an unused receiver into my inventory, then into my thermostat. Voila! My music stream still works perfectly, only now I have a pretty, functional thermostat on my wall instead of an ugly, fake-looking vent.
My point is, you can do ANYTHING with a copy/mod thermostat!! I am a big believer in making every prim work for me. Just think of the possibilities! You could hide any number of house-control scripts inside this 1LI thermostat; you could even use it as a lightswitch! The world is your oyster. Enjoy!!
