I am proud to present this Ice Sheets and Forms building set.

This set concentrates on cracked and broken ice, both in pond form and also more dramatic forms you may find in arctic regions. Feel free to go way over the top with your design - icebergs in gardens ponds work well! Looking for that ice breaker just sailed down my river look? Go for it! Hours of frozen fun!

These pieces come ready textured or you can use your own ice texture.

++ In the box:
1 (3 sizes) x cracked pond ice (from 6 LI at 17.5m)
2 x (2 sizes) cracked edge ice (from 3LI at 21.5m)
4 x (2 sizes) Broken Ice form (from 4LI at 10m)
1 x (2 sizes) Ice island (from 7LI at 16m)
1 x Danger Thin Ice sign (1 LI)
1 x Sample Ice texture

Also included are deep versions of above (thick ice) which use the same models with pre tweaked texture faces!

Dramatic landscaping set.

A very dramatic landscaping set with some great shapes included. It isn't perhaps the most versatile, but then again, if you're buying this you presumably need ice and that's definitely what you get. I really like the ice sheet edges and the sharp, jutting ice shards of the broken ice pieces.

My only quibble/additional wish would be regarding the pond; I would have loved to see a deep version so that it could fit more easily with land that isn't right at sea level. Or rather, perhaps not a version of the pond (since pond ice would be thin, but perhaps another type of hole in deeper ice. I worked around it with some of the deeper ice, gradually stepping it downwards, but it made it take up a bit more space than intended. Of course, you can also use mesh water, but I didn't have any on hand right now.

Great looking - but behaves (almost) like old sculpts

As always when it comes to landscaping stuff from Alex Bader, these Ice Sheets are very good looking. Not only for ice as intented but I had all sorts of ideas what these could be used for. However there is a small issue that put an end to most of those ideas.

Maby we have been spoiled but when mesh was introduced it was a glorious to finaly have hills and rocks without that huge invisible boundry box you get with sculpts. Now we could walk on our boulders (or ice) without floating above them or walking through them.

But these mesh ice sheets acts much like oldschool sculpts. In particular when it comes to the larger sizes. You get the big, square boundry box like you did with sculpts and you fall through the pond-section long before reaching the hole in the middle. And just like with the old sculpts this can be fixed by making the ice phantom and adding invisible solid prims. I can only guess these ice sheets have been made this way to keep the prim count low - but what a crying shame.

Still - they look great so 4 stars from me :-)
