Iris Door

Details

This door is the perfect entry point for your mad science laboratory, your starship's bridge, your airlock, or any tech build!

It opens in classic iris fashion, with the hissing of pneumatic valves. The leaves overlap each other from sealed to fully open. The door can be closed manually with an identical hand-print scanner on the opposite side, or it will automatically start its close-cycle after 10 seconds.

The hand scanner turns red as the door begins the close cycle, and turns green as the door begins its opening cycle.

The door is composed of just three prims: The circular door itself is one prim. The frame (shown here in gloss black) is one prim, and the hand-print scanner which activates the door by touch is the third prim. It extends through the inside and outside of the door.

While the texture on the door's main prim is hard-coded in the script, it is tintable, and all other textures can be changed to fit your decor. It can also be resized in whole or in part, without breaking its functionality.

It can also be linked without affecting its operation (although more than one of these doors in the same build will open/close in sync!).

Fully modifyable

Contrary to what is impossible with other iris doors, I successfully use it as an escape hatch in the horizontal floor. I resized the linked parts and moved the whole thing neatly in a round hole of the floor that's sufficiently thick so the square frame nicely disappears into the floor prim.

Other than that, I also use it vertically as an entrance door to a chamber. I could resize all linked parts easily and reposition the door knob as well!

Great stuff, well designed.

Well, it works.

The door works like it says. Square wall piece with circular door, and handprint scanner on the side operates the door. Unfortunately it cannot be resized any smaller, only larger, which isn't stated specifically.
