This traditional Japanese arched wooden bridge, or sori bash, could be found in many gardens that incorporated water during the Heian Period (794 to 1185). The bridge has a ten meter span and is three meters in width. It is tall enough for many small boats to pass beneath and can be used for dry gardens and entrances to buildings as well. Much of the bridge wood is painted red or in Japanese “Aka”.
