When I bought this I first tried the set that appears and disappears around the area where they're rezzed but I found I preferred the set that I can program. With that set I have been able to get kodamas that appear in the trees, on top of fallen logs and even on my porch. Best of all, I can keep them out of the shop with this method.
The sound effects and animations are brilliant. Just like the movie! I set mine so they glow faintly, so they can be seen when it's dark out and when it's raining (I have a weather generator). Since they're copy/mod I can have as many as I like and the random patterns they rez in means you never know where you'll see one next. A very, very clever item. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
