I am a canoe enthusiast and made this classic style canoe to give you a truly authentic viewing and feeling canoe experience in SL. Version 1.0 was first introduced in March 2018 and has become very popular. I care for it and update date it regularly (use the marketplace redelivery function anytime). Version 8.8 is dated January 25, 2025.
There are two paddling animations: As you sit in canoe you hold your paddle while looking slowly side to side and moving paddle gently in your hands and (2) as you move the canoe my original 16-frame authentic style canoe paddling animation gives feeling of relaxed control as you paddle rivers and lakes with an easy forward grace and a useful backward paddle as well.
The page up/down speed control gives you range of five speeds for the appropriate graceful on-the-water experience of this style canoe. Each time you change speeds you will see a chat message telling you which of the five speeds you have selected. To manage cruise control key "hold" or "release" in open or /3 private chat to turn cruise on or off. Steering is by the usual direction controls.
Out of the box, canoe is 6.6 meters bow to stern, with a beam width of 1.3 and height of 1.0. I specifically chose to create a classic "down east" look for this canoe which means it has that iconic dark green hull color and slightly scuffed look of a well loved and used canoe for exploring lakes and streams. Indeed, it is just like my canoe in RL. It is sold as copy only. Sorry if you want to colorize it or to add other animations, this style canoe is not meant for dramatic colors or paint schemes, etc. But, if you have a canoe appropriate modification just let me know what you seek. I do enjoy updating all my items (and you get them free via redelivery). I greatly appreciate my customers and often reward people with special gifts when they suggest ideas or modifications I can then use.
As you sit, notice that your legs are positioned naturally so as not to go through the bottom of the canoe unless you have an extremely large avatar. So, if needed you can easily rescale canoe by touching the Larsson "Jumping Girl" logo located inside stern (back) of canoe. The blue rescale menu will appear on your viewer screen. Mesh paddle also has touch to rescale menu. Sitting positions for all three seats can be adjusted using the AV Sitter blue menu that appears on viewer screens when you sit.
Sit in the canoe and you will see yourself in the "Resting" animation where you hold your paddle and look slowly about the area. Once you use your motion control to move forward or back you will see my own original 16-second looped slow paddling animation begin (many people say it is best in SL). You automatically go back and forth between the two animations, resting when you stop and paddling when you move ahead or backward. Your AVsitter menu will also allow you to fish, dive, tread water, and play in water. There is fishing pole in the box, but many people use the poles that come with the popular SL fishing games.
As you move in the water you will hear a gentle sound of moving water. The sound stops and resumes automatically as you control the motion.
There are also sit animations for two friends you can take along on your canoe excursions. Both positions can be moved using the AV Sitter menu once someone is seated and each person can select the pose when they sit or by touching canoe to show menu anytime.
One guest sits in middle seat and when seated faces to bow. This guest can also face stern, fish, dive, tread water, and play in water.
The second passenger seat is at bow facing forward. This guest can also face the stern or can fish.
And for additional fun you can take two happy puppies along for the ride too. Just touch them to make each one appear or disappear depending on your plans. Key "b" for them to bark.
Guests must supply their own fishing poles such as the ones that come with the fishing games that are so popular in SL.
Your first view as you sit is 4 meters behind canoe to give you a calm and complete perspective on the canoe and surroundings as you paddle.
Importantly, canoe includes a selection of six dynamic follower views you can select with either open chat or /3 private chat commands. All six views gracefully follow you as you turn and move about in water.
"v1" is at avatar height about 4 meters behind canoe.
"v2" is at avatar height just behind avatar so you see yourself paddling and view ahead.
"v3 is view seen by your avatar as you paddle.
"v4" is view from near bow of canoe.
"v5" is elevated just behind canoe giving view of nearby surroundings as you paddle.
"v6" is a little more behind and above canoe giving larger view of surroundings.
Canoe has land weight of 10 and the paddle has a weight of 2 if you wish to leave them in your in-world locations.

Realistic and easy to use
This is a nice little canoe, and the creator is very responsive and helpful. The boat looks great, and the animation is realistic. This is the nicest canoe I've seen in SL.

This user friendly canoe has a lot of realistic qualities. Paddle movements are smooth and slow, perfect way to slow down your SL activities and enjoy the environment. Highly recommended for people who want to spend time with friends or explore alone.
