Location Map (with TP)

The purpose of the Location Map is to display selected objects in the sim of interest to visitors. The map itself is loaded automatically on-rez, and markers are set by the owner. There is also a 'Here' marker. When the map markers have been given data they locate automatically to the correct position on the map. Clicking a marker will then offer a teleporter to the location (this can be disabled if not required).

The full power of the map is seen when displaying objects which move, such as trains and other vehicles, in which case a trail of dots will indicate the recent movement. But even as a static display, the map has advantages over a simple texture noticeboard, because updates to the sim layout will automatically be reflected in the map without the need for making and importing a new texture. Note that to use the map for moving objects requires knowledge of the target objects' UUIDs, or keys (guidance given in help file).

The Map provides 7 markers which are coloured and default-named for the traditional 7 colours of the rainbow. They can be set to follow selected objects by editing their notecards, or by using a dialog menu, which also allows editing of display names.

When a marker follows a moving object it leaves a trail of white dots, which are temporary objects and self-delete after about 1 minute. Markers which are not in use automatically home to a position on the bottom margin of the map determined by rainbow colour. These markers may be set as hidden, visible, or visible with names. A marker which is following an object which moves out of the region will home to the top margin of the map, and resume tracking when the object returns to the region.

The map has modify & copy permissions, except for the scripts.
