This tracker is designed to keep track of participants wishing to speak, such as at a formal discussion, or asking questions of a lecturer. Participants simply type a 'c' for 'comment' or 'q' for question in local chat. If they change their mind, they can type 'r' to remove their entry. The tracker hears this and adds their name to a list of people waiting to speak, displaying it in floating text above the tracker. The discussion moderator operates the tracker through a dialog menu, giving the floor to each person in turn. Should the moderator desire, they can promote people on the list, defer them or even delete their entry entirely (the crashes are real). As an added feature this tracker can take and keep track of anonymous comments. The moderator will approve the comments before they are added to the list, but they can not see who actually made the comment
This tracker was specifically designed with sim or venue owners or managers in mind. Once rezzed, you can add any number of moderators who can then operate the tracker to run their own discussions, choosing their own options if they so desire (see below). You can also add other staff who can add or remove moderators and potentially change the sim defaults (see below). But the tracker is also just as useful for individual moderators who want to run events at different sims. As long as you can rez something for any period of time this tracker will work perfectly for you.
USE:
Rez the tracker. Its' orientation and placement are not particularly important, but it should be placed so everyone can see it. You may wish to name your tracker after your venue (and have that name displayed in hover text when no discussion is active). To do so simply change the name of the mailbox, then start and stop a discussion. The name now appearing in hover text will be the one you chose.
If you are using it for your own personal discussion you can simply begin your discussion right away. Or, if you'd prefer, you can tailor the options to your own preferred experience. Click the tracker for a menu and either choose START DISCUSSION or OPTIONS (see below for a list of these).
If you are a sim or venue owner or manager and want other people to be able to use the tracker in your discussion area, you will want to assign roles. (see below for clarification of these). Choose staff and select which options you'd like. When adding a user, a chat box will appear prompting you to type the person's name. This should be the account name (not the display name), and the person does not have to be online or nearby to register. If the tracker recognizes the name, it will say in local chat that the person has been added and tell their access level. You only need to choose the highest level of access you want them to have, as they will automatically have all the access and privileges of the lower levels.
