5 separate attachments plus the BONUS Hive attachments (see separate notecard for instructions)
Each 1 prim land impact when rezzed.
Mod / Copy so you may adjust the textures etc
Eye Implant (left or right) - attaches Nose (so it doesn't wiggle about)
- default adjusted for LeLUTKA head but may be adjusted for almost any head (if you get problems contact Mars)
- 8 texture faces, two animated to simulate pulsating lamps. These may be suppressed by cancelling the animation and replacing the texture with blank or anything else.
Facial Implant (right of left) - also attaches Nose for same reason
- 5 texture faces
Voyager Comms Badge - attaches Chest
- 4 texture faces
Note: The Startrek Voyager Seven of Nine character (Jeri Ryan) wears the Eye Implant (left) and the Facial Implant (right) but of course you may mix and match & adjust (size/position/textures) as required.
There is a no mod script in the Eye Implant which may be deleted or replaced without any adverse effects.
Mars Hive Instructions
--------------------------
Updated: Oct 2024
The Mars Hive connects everyone wearing the Hive attachment wherever they are on the grid.
Anything typed in chat will be echoed as owner messages to other wearers (note: lines starting "@" are ignored for RLV reasons)
The system tries to use the RLV (preferred) but will also work with non-RLV users (which will revert to using a specified channel to communicate)
Just put the attachment on and watch as others join the Hive & chat normally to them.
To leave the Hive just detach the attachment or log off of course
Other Hives
--------------
The primary (default) hive is called Mars with encryption key "lsKTk5LHkcTazsbDx9rHkcXA2pbElMLak5HGxcbDxZXFkpOUi7qWhYQ="
If you want to connect to another hive you need its encryption key. This key must replace the key in the description and the scripts in the attachment reset. If the key is valid you will be connected to the other hive.
To create your own hive you need a key which may only be obtained from Mars Tamale for a small fee. For that fee you will also receive a preprogrammed (No Mod/Copy/Trans) version of the Hive Implant you may pass out.
Also others who have the basic Hive Implant (which is Mod/Copy/No Trans) may join you by replacing the key in their attachment's key with your key and resetting it (see commands below)
Joining other Hives
----------------------
1. You need an encryption key or this will not work
2. Edit your Hive Implant (whilst worn)
3. Modify the description in the General tab to exactly match the encryption key
4. Reset scripts in the Content tab or use the special command "reset"
If all is well you should see:
Connected to xxxx Hive
Special commands
------------------------
There are a few commands that may be typed in chat to obtain information:
list - Hive members
statistics - gives information about traffic through the system.
reset - full reset of scripts - useful if you are joining another hive.
If you are not receiving messages and know you should be (detach & re-attaching the attachment is better if you are stuck)
Under the hood/bonnet
----------------------------
If you are not technically minded you don't need to read this bit...
There is a server at Mars World that manages connections. This is done using emails or a private channel if on the same region as Mars World.
Once a connection is established the server and attachments use HTTP to communicate. This has sub-second response times but can get throttled if you generate too much traffic. So type normally and you'll be fine :-)
When you teleport to another region your attachment grabs a new URL for communication & tells everyone it knows about the change. In the rare case it doesn't get all of them then a "reset" may be necessary.
A scavenge runs every hour deleting entries which have not updated for more than a day. This saves sending HTTP messages to non-existent URL's.
