Introducing the Northern Operations Grid Wide Sport Fishing Game, Version 4.11 released November 2025!
Over 500 anglers participating weekly, fishing to relax and/or competing in both Grid Wide Tournaments and Regional Competitions! Instructions in English, French, Dutch, German, and with more to come.
Now a fully stand alone fishing system, everything is built into the fishing rod- a fishing server prim is no longer required.
Once you've purchased this item you are fully licensed and ready to fish Grid Wide, fishing gear included! There are no extra costs for bait or enhanced items in the Northern Operations system.
Just for fun and bragging rights, there are no prizes directly linked to this fishing system though contests are currently being run weekly for Featured Species Tournament Champion (angler catching the largest fish of the weekly featured species receives a trophy), Whopper Board (the angler catching the largest overall fish receives a mounted taxidermy likeness of their trophy catch), and Stringer (angler with the highest total weight after keeping five eatable sized fish). This fishing system also allows you to create your own contests.

OVER 30 TYPES OF FISH CATCHING METHODS! (Items are copy only) Including left and right handed.
+Fishing Rod - A classic spinning reel/rod combo design.
+Deep Sea Fishing Rod - A sturdy rod with a large classically designed open-faced deep sea fishing reel.
+Deep Sea Fishing Rod Dinkie - A resized smaller version of the above rod.
+Harpoon - scuba or skin diving style.
+Bow Fishing - bow and arrow with attached line as used for rough fish.
+Fish Trap - Suited for shallow sea areas. Your avatar will kneel down while fishing.
+Fishing Spear - Suited for shallow sea water spearing.
+Trident - A 3 pronged spear perfect for mers.
+Fishing Stick - A simple stick and string design to fit in with a multitude of anciently themed Regions.
+Mage's Fishing Wand - A magical spell casting stick/wand which uses particle colors to catch fish.
+Fishing Rod Blank - A basic rod with no animations or sounds that can fit over an existing favourite rod that you already own.
All fishing methods can catch all sizes of fish.
Fish show as a mesh fish of the basic correct type, i.e. Marlin, Salmon, etc. enabling you to record that special moment in a photograph for posterity.

I highly recommend this game to anyone that enjoys SL water. NORTHERN OPERATIONS Sport Fishing Game is the easiest and most fun game I have played in SL. Newbie friendly and fun for SL oldies too! All you need is SL water, everything else is included in the box. Just add a HUD and fishing instrument of your choice, that's it! Instructions are in multiple languages.
There are a variety of instruments including rods (left and right held), spears, harpoons, a fish trap and even a ray gun to catch your fish. These are sized for average sized adult avatars and small avatars like dinkies, petites or SL children. There are options to change colors of your instrument in the HUD.
This is a one time purchase, with frequent updates. It is NOT an inventory mess-maker. Once you buy, you find an invite in the box of objects to join the in-world group. The group is very well organized by helpful volunteers including Game Wardens. This is a very positive, friendly and welcoming community, if you choose to play socially. You can also use the Northern Operations website to find sims across the grid that welcome guests to fish at any time, or to join competitions. One does not need to own land to enjoy the game.
Every day multiple free contests/competitions are hosted by volunteer Captains on their own private sims, or in publicly accessible SL water. Competitions/Contests usually feature trophies and/or L$ prizes. The community is fantastic! It's a great way to make new friends.
Bait is located in the HUD with a variety of other options to customize the way you choose to enjoy the game. There are a variety of fish to catch, the featured fish species changes weekly. Additional addons for support of the game geared to sim owners are all free! The game makes a great gift to any avatar that seems to have it all. I have really enjoyed playing the Sports Fishing and Wildlife Photography games. Its relaxing and you have the options to keep the photos or keep your inventory clutter free. In addition, the community across the various comps is full of amazing ppl to hang out with.

I love that this game does not clutter my inventory with random fish and I dont have to pay for my bait. I can change out my pole with other poles and just have fun. The many comps that are scheduled with N-O Fishing are so much fun. The best part, no greifers, because before it can become a problem, the owner is booting them out like they should be!
