The OSI vendor is a simple, reliable, secure, straightforward solution to sell items in Second Life.
It does not rely on an external website to operate, and there are no fees for using it. All profits from your sales are yours to keep.
Usage is easy: rez a prim (and shape it like you want - it can of course be a mesh), drop your item(s) for sale in its contents, drop the vendor configuration notecard and set up the price, profit sharing options etc. and finally the OSI vendor script.
The script will perform a number of checks to make sure everything is ok regarding profit sharing, inventory permissions etc. (details in the documentation), and then start accepting payments.
Even though the defaults are perfectly ok (just make sure the sale price is correct!), the configuration notecard provides useful options :
- profit sharing: any number of avatars can receive a fraction of the profits, defined as a percentage. These avatars may be designated in the notecard either by their (legacy or user) name or their UUID.
- inventory management: if you do not specify, then everything inside the vendor (with the exception of the script and the notecard) is to be sold. But you can define exactly which items will be given to the buyer. And you can set the folder name in their inventory too.
- message customization. Whenever a buyer buys your item(s), they receive a message, you receive a message, and your partners (profit sharing) will also receive a message. All these 3 messages can be customized (with automatic variable substitution) or just suppressed if you prefer.
Any inquiry, feature request, problem encountered, suggestion or constructive criticism is welcome.
