It's not a waste to spend $9L, but I wouldn't do it again, and I'd be wary of purchasing another item.
You definitely get what you pay for, but even the components aren't worth unlinking to use. And yes, the fly swarm is pretty ugly. But TY for being creative and doing it on the cheap :).
