Welcome to my project to unify mer tails in SL & OS under a single bento tail rig!
This tail is an entirely custom creation by me (Ghost Cloud)
as a gift to the SL mer community. Please enjoy it!
This tail currently fits the bodies:
- Maitreya Lara
- Belleza Freya
- Belleza Jake
- Legacy Athletic
- Must Trade Bara
PLEASE NOTE: OpenMerTail comes with NO ANIMATIONS. You will have to buy an AO!
Check the "Compatible AOs & Furni" Notecard for recommendations.
With this tail, you are permitted to:
- Use the tail as-is
- Edit the textures and sell BOM skins for this tail with whatever permissions you want
- Edit the tail mesh itself and sell remixes of the tail with whatever permissions you want
- Port the base tail to new bodies and contribute to the base project's library of supported bodies
(send me (Ghost Cloud) the blend file to submit your contributions!)
- Use this tail as a reference for making poses and animations
What you cannot do with this tail:
- Use the tail mesh & textures outside of Second Life and OpenSim in other games, such as VR Chat and The Sims.
TL;DR This is a fullperm resource for your own mer tail creations WITHIN Second Life & OpenSim!

Links for download are no longer valid nor is discord but objects came in fine
Gave 5 stars because the product came through fine and can't beat the price. However, I needed the Blender, DAE or FBX files and the links aren't valid. Appears you download any updates from the discord server but that's no longer valid either. Bummer but still a good product.

This fits my avatar just fine. It was a little challenging to figure out how to make a custom texture, which doesn't cause me to mark it down at all. Just be aware that making custom textures for this tail is probably not something a beginner would want to tackle.
