What are ratioed sculpts?

Ratioed sculpts utilize different dimensions than the original format of sculptie - that is - they are oblong rectangular sculpt maps, which allow for more efficient use of vertices. This means more detail and flexibility can be worked in to sculpties without appreciable loss in quality due to Level of Detail jumps.

What are the pros and cons of using products that contain ratioed sculpts?

In the context of products from Organica, ratioed sculpts provide more detail and the ability to make more organic shapes. If one were to compare the original low prim grass, made with square sculpt maps, to the new ratioed edition, basically it's allowed for more curvy surfaces and better textures overall.

Unfortunately, because Second Life 1.21 is an optional version, anyone who is not running 1.21 or higher will not be able to view these sculpties as they were meant to be seen. In all likelihood, they will appear as spheres.

Also, because of the current implimentation of ratioed sculpts in 1.21, ratioed sculpts can take a little longer to load, and depending on your graphics card, you may need to do some tweaking in your debug settings to get these sculpts to load smoothly.

How do I fix my 1.21+ viewer to load ratioed sculpts properly?

This method works for most users, however it is rather inconsistent at the moment. The hope is that ratioed sculpts will load correctly with the next viewer release.

1) If you do not have it visible already, enabled the 'Advanced' menu by pressing ctrl+alt+d at the same time.
2) Open the 'Advanced' pulldown menu, and click on 'Debug Settings...'. A small dialogue box will appear in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.
3) Type in 'rendervolumeLODFactor'.
4) Change the value *down* to 0.1, then change it back up to 5.0. Close the dialogue box. If SL has behaved, you should now be able to view ratioed sculpts just like they are pictured on their product vendors.

If I can't view a ratioed sculpt, can I get a refund?
