Change Floating Text
The floating text will display whatever you name the mailbox. To change it:
- Go into edit mode
- On General Tab rename your object to whatever you want the floating text to say (ie. My Mailbox)
- To make multiple lines, seperate the lines with a : (colon)
Leave Mail
Method 1 - ANYONE can right click on the mailbox and drag ANYTHING (except scripts) to the contents tab of the edit window.
Method 2 - Drag and Drop (This should only be used with notecards)
Get Mail
Method 1 - Click Access - (Owner, Group, or allowed persons on access list)
Click on the mailbox and choose a number of the item he/she wishes to retrieve. The item will them be placed in their inventory under the default folder for that objcet type. (Ex. Shirt -> Clothing Folder, Hammer -> Object Folder, Notecard -> Notecard Folder)
Method 2 - Remote Access - (Owner and anyone the owner gives the key and password to)
Follow these instructions to add your mailbox to your PDS Laptop.
- Click the lock on your mailbox and click the "Get Key" button. Highlight the key that was given you in chat and hit Ctrl+C (to copy the key)
- Right click on your mailbox and choose "Edit" from the pie menu, check the "Edit Linked Parts" checkbox at the top of the edit window.
- Click the lock so that only it is highlighted.
- Open the Password notecard and put your password ont he first line. Delete all other text making sure there is no spaces after your password and no blank lines.
- Right click on your laptop and choose edit. Open the "! User PDS Systems" notecard. Add a line with the following format.. (use Ctrl+V to paste the key you copied from chat after the name. Use the same password you put on the notecard of your mailbox. Make sure there are no extra spaces or blank lines.

Method 3 - Direct Access - (Owner only)
- Right click mailbox, choose "Edit" from the pie menu, go to contents tab and grab, look, and delete at will.
Give Access
Method 1 - (Click Access - Must be present to retrieve items)
- Right click on mailbox, choose "Edit" from the pie menu, click "Edit Linked Parts" click the lock so that only it is highlighted.
- Open "Access List" notecard
- Add the word Group to allow the group that the mailbox is set to access.
- Add individual names
- Case sensitive
- One name per line
Method 2 - (Remote Access - Can retrieve mail from anywhere in SL)
- Give the person or group the key to the mailbox and your password that you set.
- They follow the instructions above for remote access.
