Sigh of relief

Posted November 05, 2014 by Ed Vectoscope 5 stars

I know what you're thinking, I was nervous too. 1/5 the price of the alternatives on offer, but no reviews? I bit the bullet and I want to encourage you to do similarly.

I have been considering getting one of these for more than a year, I love building with prims, but even in their heyday I found them restrictive if you wanted to enter any level of detail. I was shopping for a desk the other day, and I opted to leaf through the marketplace and see if anyone had brought out anything new by way of in-world mesh making. Whilst this isn't particularly cutting edge, I believe it does what the more expensive packages have been doing all along, it certainly does the job!

I have now converted 4 prim objects to mesh, I can't get enough, and I have been very satisfied with the results. I've tried to use blender in the past but I have never really succeeded, this has given me a basic knowledge of tris and edges and faces (I think) but really nothing more than that. My best so far was the desk I was previously shopping for, 37 prims reduced down to 0.6LI!

I love the fact that the script will identify up to 8 faces for the mesh based on the textures applied to the object, this means you can just texture it when it is prims, then after conversion you can just drop the same textures straight back onto it.

I have had some trouble with hollowed toruses and spheres so far, with the hollows not behaving in the way that I expected them to. However there are some settings prior to download that you can tweak for rounded faces which i have not yet experimented with, so this might be where I am going wrong. It could also be an error with the script itself, however this is early days and I'm certain it will be addressed.

I had a hiccup initially with the script generating my mesh, but a quick email to the developer (available at saw it resolved within about 30 minutes.

All in all, I am 100% happy with my purchase, and confident that you will be too!
