Update hardly worth the wait and especially price hike.

After nearly two years of a lack of updates and support due to both avatars getting a 'V3' upgrade, the Protosynth's own is fairly disappointing and is especially quite derivative of B.Tech's own Synth counterpart under the hood.

It looks more pleasing out of the box with a better armor design and more fluff, but without it, there are especially rough and blatant texture + model seams on the limbs that are effectively stitched on, and if you're using the female one, the breasts are hollow plates on an otherwise flat chest. The overall body and HUD are based off the V3 Synth, which while could imply cross-compatible parts, there isn't much of a selection of this writing, let alone anything visually matching.

A striking detail that wasn't addressed from older versions is that the armor emblems still get stretched like crazy during any significant movement in any animation.

Compared to the last version, the Protogen helmet that comes with the avatar has animated eyes, but they're recycled from the Synth while 'mouth' choices are the same unanimated textures from the previous iteration, with nothing like a pseudo-talkjaw effect to differentiate the two. There is also no longer a head behind the helmet, with the new version now assuming you'll always have it on.

The alpha toggle affects both sets of ears for some reason, but the HUD works well and uses tags you can put on your own items to match. The only thing it's really missing is a means to punch in color codes.

All this said, the amount of offerings for Protogen avatars in Second Life is somehow lackluster, and the new version of this one isn't visually that bad. If this was an extraneous modification for the Synth V3 in itself (which would be a much safer option), it would soften the blow. But for something that got bumped up to L$1800 in its current state, it's difficult to recommend as a standalone avatar and feels phoned in beyond the armor.

You do get a LOT with the base collection. Male, female bodies & HUDs for customization and colors.
Right now there isn't a whole lot of options for clothing/armor or fur mods. That is really my only complaint. I did read there's updates in the works, so I am SUPER excited for when those get released! Keep up the amazing work, us Proto-Synths are ready for an upgrade
