Set up the trap
-------------------
- Turn transparent view on (CNTRL-ALT-t). This makes it easier to locate the trap to edit it.
- Place the trap where you want it
- Edit it it for shape and size
- Edit the "TrapConfig" note card. Change the values as you see fit:
TRAP_SPD - Rate at which the trap does damage in seconds. Speed should stay at 3.0 UNLESS the trap is something obvious like an open fire. Anything Less than a 3.0 should be justified.
TRAP_RANGE - Range is only needed if the weapon has a "spray" or environmental effect. If range is 0.0 then it is touch effect only. Ranged traps are cause lag if there are to many on.
TRAP_ARC - Arc is only used for ranged traps. If range is 0.0 arc is ignored. This is a number that is multiplier of PI over 2. 2 will make it a sphere. 1 will be a half sphere .. ect.
TRAP_TYPE - Type of attack these three are is for use by GM. Trap, null, null is the default. Any deviation should be justified. Damage for a trap other than trap if it does more damage (like a sword) may be cause for a cheating accusation.
TRAP_DURATION - Number of times the damage should be repeated before the trap is disarmed. 0 indicates continuous damage. Once disarmed it will hafta be rearmed to do damage.
TRAP_ATKOBJ - Set this to 1 to detect objects and well as avatars. This can be a bit laggy. Why do this? well if you have objects that can take GM damage this will detect those objects and try to damage them. This will work with all 2 tone breakable objects.
TRAP_REMCHAN - By default set to '-932423152'. This is the channel used to remote control this trap. It needs to match the channel specified in an associated remote damage control. You change this (and the channel in the remote control) to set private channels for controlling traps. Or put them all on the same channel to have a master switch!
TRAP_NAME - This is the name of the trap to use when creating the GM damage string.
TRAP_FLAMESIZE - f this is flame trap, this sets the duration of the flame particles. The bigger the number the bigger the flame. < 1.0 is a BIG fire
TRAP_STARTMSG - Message to display when the trap is turned on.
TRAP_STOPMSG - Message to display when the trap is turned off.
TRAP_HURTMSG - Message to display when the trap does damage. It will ALWAYS be append to the targets name.
- Save your changes and they will automatically be loaded.
