Quickie Video Demonstration
This video shows off a few sample paint jobs as they are switched via the menu, and also some driving around to show you what the particle effects look like. Screenshots don't do it justice. At the end, you'll see the boat skipping at speed... quite the effect. :)

Quick Start
=======
1.) Right click on the hull and select "Board".
2.) The boat starts automatically and is ready to go. A list of controls is displayed in your chat window.
W = Move forward
S = Move backward
A = Turn left
D = Turn right
E = Increases the throttle 10%
C = Decreases the throttle 10%
Left click off the boat to make it jump to avoid obstacles.
Left click on the boat for the options menu.
By default, the boat's throttle mode is set to FPS style. When moving, simply let go of a movement key and you will slow to a stop.
Type "capsize" in chat to capsize the boat. There's no particular reason to do this, other than it's kinda funny. :)
To make the boat skip, it has to be at 80% throttle or higher.
More features and options are available in the following sections.

Featureset
=======
-- Every configurable option is accessed through the touch menu.
-- You get 22 textured paintjobs to select from on command, including camouflage, glossy black, and others.
-- The boat emits realistic & pleasant sounds, engineered not to "pop" loudly:
- Ignition
- Idle
- Engine low range
- Engine high range
- Splash for landing in the water after being airborne.
-- The menu-driven guesting enables you to let friends drive, without needing to type out their names.
-- Kick any unwanted passengers and lock out the boat to prevent others from getting on.
-- Toggle between two throttle modes:
- FPS Style: Hold down a throttle key to move, release it to stop. You can configure the throttle percentage applied to this style in increments of 10%.
- Cruise Style: For hands-off driving, the throttle is more refined and lets you take long cruises without perpetually holding a key down.
-- The bow rises in proportion to speed, which also increases wave turbulence. At the highest speeds the boat will begin to skip subtley, causing an extra splash each time the hull comes back into the water. The "hull landing" effect includes an audio and visual splash effect. This simulates having the trim set too high.
-- The splash effects are realistic and believable. You get churning wake that arrows out, the shallow roostertail from the boat's jet tube, and hull landing splash. If you turn sharply at high speed, the outside wake particle generator will spray outwards, simulating a displacement that has the potential to soak anybody unlucky enough standing on a dock or beach. The particles are efficient and do not depend on excessive count or lingering to achieve their effect.
-- A configurable instant-messaging "beacon" helps you find your boat in case you lose it. This is based off Cubey Terra's open source vehicle beacon script.
-- You can toggle "phantom" mode so the boat's hull clips with objects. This is useful for navigating littered waterways.
-- A readable novelty "checklist" is textured on the left of the console. This summarizes the controls and some driving tips.
-- Third person view is followcam style, so even though this boat skips, the screen won't be jerking all over the place.
-- All updates to this boat are free.

Menu Options
=========
Touch the boat to bring up the menu.
(Readme) - Gives you this document.
(Throttle) - This toggles between the two throttle modes.
FPS Style: Hold down forward or reverse to move, release to stop. You can adjust the percentage of throttle given in this mode by typing a number (1 = 10%, 2 = 20%, etc.) in chat, or selecting it from the menu option "Throttle" which appears only when this mode is activated. Please note that for the boat to skip, it needs to be at 80% throttle or higher.
Cruise Style: This is for hands-off driving, where the boat drives itself without need for you to hold down any keys. Tap forward to increase the throttle in increments. Tap down to decrease the throttle. Pressing the C or "Duck" key will cut the throttle.
(Kick) - This will bring up a sub-menu where each passenger in the boat is listed as a button. Clicking on an avatar's button in this menu will kick them off the boat.
(Lock) -
I get wary about any vehicles as most once ridden.. end up lodged in the wall of the closest building. The efficiency of this script is yet to be beaten. Fluid and fine tune control allow slow relaxing coasts down even the most winding canals. Being able to drive and steer using the keys while the mouse turns your head side to side to view the surronding area to me is worth a sticker price of $2000L. you reall feel like you driving this craft and not in some old Atari console 2d game.
Whatever this builder creates, no matter how many styles, I will own them all. His tedious attention to detail and script perfection have won me as a customer for his creative life in SL.
This is was an unexpected gift from my bf. OMG! It runs SOOOO well. And the controls and animations are awesome! Thanks for making a great speed boat.
Holy crap.
Forgive me if I gush.
Every once in a while, a product comes along that is so complete, so well-executed, that it changes the way you do things in SL. After about 30 minutes in this boat, I'm looking at lake front properties to relocate my homestead to.
I'm a perpetually dissatisfied customer. Having scripted a couple of things myself, I'm always convinced that something is lacking in every product, something that I would fix if I had access to the scripts or could mod the build, or ... you get the idea.
Not this time. This boat quite literally sets a standard for other boats. I've had quite a few colorable items, but never before have I seen this many complete color options - and by complete I mean changes in textures, and not just prim color. The movement is pretty well what you'd expect from a decent boat... smooth, quicker at top speeds than you can really expect to go without crossing sim borders every 5 seconds, reasonably easy to control.
But it's the level of realism that really sets this boat apart. The particle effects, the realistic texture choices, heck, even the capsize... the only thing I found myself wishing for was that the world around me - the lakes and shores - were up to snuff with the realism of the boat I was in.
If I had a suggestion at all, it would be to take the need for mouseclicking out of the control set (you need it to hop over obstacles) and replace it with CONTROL_UP + CONTROL_FWD, so that I could hop by adding the E key to the W I'm already using to travel forward. I don't mind taking my finger off the FWD button long enough to use the E for its usual purpose, which is to top up the throttle 10%. Then I could use one hand to nav the boat, instead of needing two. But honestly, that situation doesn't come up much, and I'm just nitpicking on this one.
And 600L? Seriously. I want to encourage folks to buy this boat just so this team'll be encouraged to keep making stuff.
