~◊Description◊~
This is a non-mesh, practically no-frills, prim rotating disco ball with simulated light specks that sort of appear and disappear around the ball to simulate mirrors catching and reflecting light (they are no longer sharp and weird as the previous version). The light specks are the inner layers of the ball poking in and out of view.
~◊Texture◊~
I've finally figured out how to animate a discoball texture! Full discolsure: it's not the sharpest texture as the cell map consists of 18 cells. When resized by SL, the texture lost a lot of clarity and as such, it will look a bit blurry up close. Making the ball bigger will also increase blurriness of the texture, just a warning.
~◊Rotation◊~
There are three speeds included for your convenience: Slow, Medium and Fast-ish. If you'd like a different speed, you can edit the scripts yourself but please be sure to keep your master copy safe.
~◊Troubleshooting◊~
The further away you are from the ball, the higher the glow emanates until you can't see the outer texture anymore. This is a result of LOD gradually decreasing as objects move out of view and is a feature of SL itself. I really have no way of getting around that, however if you want to minimize this "glow washout" a bit, you might want to make the ball a lot bigger. Again, just a warning - the texture may get blurrier as you do so.
~◊Other◊~
Photos were taken with Local Lights, Basic Shaders, and Atmospheric Shaders only.
Spotlight NOT included. I picked it up for free on the marketplace. The photo shows how it looks if some light is being pointed at it. (Make sure your spotlight is actually emanating light and not just "glowing.")
To see a gif of the ball rotating for a few seconds, click "watch it in action" right beneath the main image on the listing. The "jump" you see in the texture is caused by the looping of the gif and is not a glitch in the animation. The disco mirror animation continues seamlessly in world.
