This Ostrich egg Vase was painted by Jean-Etienne Lebel, who specialized in decorating these eggs from the Menagerie of Versailles. The vase wasmounted on an ivory base and pomegranate wood, made in circa 1767 for Madame Adelaide. This princess probably offered the two vases to her father Louis XV, and they then appeared in the collections of Louis XVI.

Magnifique vase. Textures très réalistes.
