This pier is awesome. A great design and look so very real. Its modular so you can make what you want. And its updated to strong LOD and now is staying visible when you cam out till 200 meters and more. Its great! Good job!
*Is* modular
Notwithstanding the previous review I took a punt because it looked such a nice build - both from the photo and the inworld demo. I was so glad I did. It is *not* now a single piece but 7-8 different segments as the creator describes. Do not be put off by the reviews that say it is one piece - maybe it was when they bought it but that's not what I bought. If the creator has separated it in response to the reviews kudos to him/her. It's perfect for what I needed (I only wanted a straight pier with railings).
Not Modular
"Modular: Refers to the design of any system composed of separate components that can be connected together. The beauty of modular architecture is that you can replace or add any one component (module) without affecting the rest of the system."
Each piece should be inter-connectable with any other piece. They are not. The picture is what you'll end up with. This creator has no idea what the term 'modular' means in Second Life or architecture.
Yes, not 100% modular... but still excellent
I read the other reviews before finally making my decision to buy this pier and I also inspected it in world. No surprises and I'm happy with the product. Yes, as mentioned in reviews before, it doesn't give you many options. You will not be able to set up this pier so that it is L shaped or has any sort of turn. But as long as you are okay with this pier being straight, you can play around with the layout of the pieces to arrange the length of your pier. I found that I could put the start and end together to create small open sections if you would like to dock a boat off the side. You can also stretch it and extra pylons are included so your pier will reach the sea floor no matter the depth. A few other pieces could have been a great addition to this set... Perhaps a non-railed section and extra pieces of rail to create ends, openings, and joints when needed. Matching stairs would have been nice too. But all in all, I still give this five stars for aesthetic and low land impact. This will be very useful to me. Just please, check this out in world and inspect each linked section to know what you are getting before purchasing and leaving a bad review. This is a lovely pier and if you like the presented set up you will be very happy! :)
GREAT DONE !!!
Best Pier in SL so far. Nice detailed with LOW PRIMS. Thank You =)
Not a "design of your choice"
It's not exactly the most modular pier system as it's been built as one object. That means you can't say lengthen the legs or knock off a wall to make a perfect design. You can only make what is shown in that picture. That's it. A pity really as it's such lovely texturing. If only the deck, sides and legs were 3 linked pieces. Avoid, unless you want that exact picture.
