I am not the creator of the game I am just selling off some extra tables in my inventory from a sim I used to run.
Skippy is a card game for 2 to 12 players. To join the game, touch the table to sit and you'll be positioned at a vacant seat. Your camera will be automatically aligned with the table - if you cam away you can return to the table view by pressing your Esc key.
You'll need a Skippy HUD to join the game - if you're not wearing one within a few seconds of sitting you'll be offered one. Attach it to your HUD, by default at the top right position, by right clicking and selecting Wear. You'll see the chip in front of your position turn green when your HUD has been detected.
When 2 or more players have joined, the game can be started by touching the Start legend on the table. After a game has started nobody else can join until the next one.
You can change your seat or pose by touching your stool to open the Player Menu. From here select Seat to change your position at the table, Pose to change your sit animation, Bell to change or disable the sound that indicates when it's your turn, or Instructions to get this document. You can also touch any vacant stool before the game starts to move directly to it.
* The Rules *
The deck consists of number cards from 1 to 12 and four special "action" cards, labeled R (Reverse), D (Draw), N (No Wilds) and W (Wild). For every 24 number cards there are 3 wild cards and 1 each of the other action cards, with additional decks shuffled into the game when needed. When the game starts a dealer is selected at random and 10, 15 or 20 cards (depending on the game length option) are dealt face down in a pile in front of each player. The top card is turned over, and the pile is known as the Stock. Play commences clockwise from the left of the dealer.
The aim of the game is to play all of your stock cards by placing them onto four communal piles in the centre of the table, known as Build Piles. These piles must be built sequentially starting with a 1 and proceeding with sequential cards up to 12, when the pile is cleared and can be started again. All action cards are wild, so can be played on any other number and will adopt the next value in the sequence. You can only play the top card from your stock pile, whereupon the next card is turned over.
At the start of your turn you will be dealt 5 cards face up into your hand (shown on the HUD). Other players cannot see these cards. You can't win the game by playing cards from your hand, but you can use them to build piles onto which your stock cards can be played. If you cannot play a card, or do not wish to, you end your turn by playing a card from your hand onto one of four Discard Piles in front of you on the table. Cards can be placed on the discard piles in any order, and in later turns can be played onto build piles just like cards from your hand or from stock. If you play all 5 cards from your hand, you will automatically draw another 5 from the deck. For each turn you will automatically draw sufficient cards to make your hand back up to 5 cards.
* How To Play *
Your turn is indicated by a bell and an orange border around your HUD. Choose a card to play by touching it - it will turn pink. Now touch where you want to place the card, and if valid the card will be played. The following plays are possible:
- From stock to build pile
- From hand to build pile
- From discard pile to build pile
- From hand to discard pile (ends turn)
Don't forget to end your turn by a playing a card from your hand to one of your discard piles!
* Action Cards *
W - Wild
May be played on any card (including an empty pile) unless the preceding card is No Wilds.
N - No Wilds
May be played as for a Wild card, except only a number card may subsequently be played onto it, not an action card.
R - Reverse
May be played as for a Wild card, however upon doing so your turn immediately ends and the direction of play reverses. The chip for the current player rotates in the direction of play.
D - Draw
May be played as for a Wild card, hower upon doing doing so your turn immediately ends, all other players draw an additional card onto the bottom of their stock pile, and play proceeds to the next player
