Area 23 presents Slacro Barrel of Fun
The Barrel of Fun series consists of simple low-prim text-based games. Slacro is the first game in this series.
Slacro is a quick word game for 3 to 10 players. Players simply touch the barrel to start or join a game, even one in progress. A game consists of alternating rounds of slacro submission and voting. In the slacro submission round, the players are presented with a group of 3 to 7 letters and have a short amount of time to submit a slacro (an acronym or initialism using those letters) on private channel 123. For example, if the group of letters is "SLLWG" a player might submit by typing "/123 Second Lifers Love Word Games". The barrel will IM you to let you know if your submission is accepted or if something is wrong with it. Once all players have submitted or the time has run out, all of the slacros are presented numbered in random order and players are asked to vote for their favorite. Again this is done privately, so for example if a player wanted to vote for the second slacro listed they would type "/123 2". Players may not vote for their own submissions, but they are only eligible for a letter bonus (see scoring below) if they have voted. Once all players have voted or the time has run out, scores will be tallied for the round and displayed to all players. Players receive one point per vote for their slacro. The slacro(s) with the most votes are awarded an extra "letter bonus" equal to the number of initial letters, IF their submitter has voted. The first player to submit a slacro is also awarded a 2 point "speed bonus" if they manage to get at least one vote. After scoring, if any player has reached 30 points, the player with the highest score wins. In case of a tie, the victory is shared. If no one has won yet, there is a brief break, and the game returns to the submission round.
