ST NICHOLAS ICON (MET)
This icon is a representation of St Nicholas of Myra (Turkey), fourth-century bishop and wonder-worker. This SL icon is one of our “standard” or “mute” icons — it is merely a reproduction of an image, as opposed to our “talking” icons, which display quotes from Scripture when touched.
Our icons are created for private use and display in churches and other places in SL. They should not be resold or adapted for resale. Their size and position can be modified. Copy and Transfer permissions depend upon the particular version of the icon purchased.

ST. NICHOLAS
Nicholas of Myra is revered in both the Eastern and Western Churches as a saint of great holiness and generosity, and as a worker of miracles. Because of his reputed generosity, he also became the basis for a legendary figure as Santa Claus. The historical St Nicholas lived in the 4th century, and was Bishop of the city of Myra (present-day Turkey). He was imprisoned during the persecution of Diocletian but released when Constantine became Emperor. He is reputed to have been present at the Council of Nicea, and to have slapped the heretic Arius there. The first accounts of his life were written centuries after his death, and say that he gave away all of his wealth, and contain other stories of his generosity. He is also reputed to have worked such miracles as calming a storm at sea and resurrecting three children from death. He is regarded as the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, repentant thieves, children, brewers, pawnbrokers, and students in various cities in Europe. His feast day is celebrated on December 6 in both the Eastern and the Western liturgical calendar.
Icons of St. Nicholas are among the most common icons of saints found in Orthodox churches. There are a number of icons of the Saint around which reputed miracles have occurred. https://iconreader.wordpress.com/2012/12/20/ten-miracle-working-icons-of-saint-nicholas/
