The Stank "Space Dorm" is a small (15x15, or ~32x32 for the stars and reflection) sci-fi skybox with a view of the stars. Nearly every texture includes baked lighting or reflections, and there are many built in sounds to complete the experience of being on a space shuttle. The room is unfurnished, with the exception of a built-in shelf and a built-in booth where two avatars can sit. The door to the skybox also slides opened and closed in the event that you want to add the skybox to an existing build or home.
There is a very realistic reflection beyond the window (not just some flat "reflection texture") on the backdrop of stars moving by. The starfield and reflection are both separate objects, so feel free to choose your own backdrop instead. The window can be opened or closed, depending on how much light you like in the room (the floor texture will change).
Updates are obviously free for life, and can be obtained through the user menu.
Clicking on the computer terminal brings up the user menu, with the following options:
-Air Duct - toggle the sound and particle effects coming from the air duct near the door
-Tutorial - toggle floating tooltips that show what you can interact with. This is on by default.
-Update - checks the server for any updated versions. Do this every every few months or so. This will also happen automatically when you rez the skybox.
-Info -Info about the system and an easter egg :Q__
-Store - link to my Marketplace storefront
-Door - sets the door open delay (5,10,15 seconds)
-Sounds - ability to change sound volumes for every sound you hear without modifying any scripts
-Shutters - ability to open and close the window, depending on your mood
-Access - change who has the ability to modify the above settings as well as to open the door ("Access" and "Update" will still only be available to the owner)
BONUS: Now includes a 35-prim detailed and dark sci-fi hallway. It is modular, seamlessly loop it in either direction to create your hallways connecting rooms or insets for computer terminals, etc
See item in Second Life- Sculpted and baked textures
- Many sounds with customizable volumes
- Access control and working door

Perfect for what we needed
This became the primary set location in a film we did recently. It was very easy to pull off lighting tricks and shadows with, yes the LI is high but you know that when you buy it. For our purposes it was perfect and we looked around a while for the right one.
Looks nice, but a little large the Land Impact.
For being a primary Prim based skybox this certainly still seems as good as some Mesh builds I've seen.
My only complaint would be the Land impact, but would make a nice space themed small skybox.
i am not sure
it may look good on the inside but it is still way to hard to fit or use in to any thing...and it can lose ALLot of prims if it was linked better the details are very nice but its so not practical to be used in anything
Still good.
Been around for awhile but still pretty good for when you want a small space based place.
Can cut the prims almost in half with the Prim to Convex hull method without losing any detail.
With the Bonus Hallway, this small dorm becomes a station!
This is the absolute best I have ever seen for both the price and quality. With the bonus hallway, this space dorm has a very high amount of added potential, as you'll then only be limited by your prim count and airspace. This being Mod made it easy to trim down any pieces I didn't want and I was VERY pleased that none of the room controls interfered with the controls of other rooms, as can be common with some builds. I have full control of each room separately and I love the included sounds and effects! The window reflection method was also a very successful idea, especially at midnight lighting, because it really does look like a reflection!
I am extremely impressed and pleased with this and I intend to use this for a long time! The texturing and other details are so well done that they're very unlikely to fall behind future second life builds a few years from now. People are getting better and better with their textures, sculpts and mesh, and compared to what you most often see today, this space dorm is ahead of its time in quality! Get this- It's a keeper..
Absolutely stunning.
I couldn't believe the quality, not to mention the features, of this skybox. I'd been looking for something along this line for ages, and this was -exactly- what I needed, and more.
The attention to detail and skill that went into this will be immiediately evident, but upon closer inspection, you'll see it more and more.
This could be justified in selling at up to 1,500, maybe even 2,000. I'm so glad that it isn't though!
You -know- something is awesome when you're showing off it's TUTORIAL system. Stank's other products fit into the room prefectly as well.
Bottom line, amazing job. If you can, get this thing. You will -not- regret it.
