Details

This 15m x 20m x 6m ride can haunt your guests as they turn around corners encountering ghosts, skeletons, and other surprises! The ride features flickering lights, sculpted trees, and a looping background soundtrack suitable for a dark ride. Riders will experience one lap through the maze in this non-Physics customizable ride of which you can retexture and/or remove unwanted prims. All scripts are no-mod/yes-copy/no-transfer. Included are two versions of the attraction, both a themed "dark ride" as well as a plain building.

Setup
=====
Configuration of the ride is very easy...

1. Rez the ride on the floor/ground and lower the building (as well as the white audio/video effects prim on top) so the bottom rests on the floor/ground.

2. Edit the ride's building and change the description to one of the following settings:
5,Slow, Chill
5,Medium, Chill
5,Fast, Chill
0,Slow, Thrill
0,Medium, Thrill
0,Fast, Thrill

3. The first number is an (optional) fee that may be charged per vehicle (two avatars per vehicle).

4. The second parameter determines the speed the vehicle will travel through the maze..
- When "Slow" setting is used, TopScripts of the sim will generally be around 0.200ms.
- When "Medium" setting is used, TopScripts of the sim will generally be around 0.050ms.
- When "Fast" setting is used, TopScripts of the sim will generally be around 0.050ms.

5. The third parameter is the "mode" of the vehicle.
- When "Chill" setting is used, the vehicle will travel straight through the maze normally.
- When "Thrill" setting is used, the vehicle will spin around and perform an unexpected stunt. :-)

6. The ride will auto-detect new settings within 10 seconds, if not then click the floor to force an update.

A Note About "ms": One of the many factors that contributes towards lag in Second Life is how many milliseconds of time is used by a script on a regular basis. With all other things being equal (i.e. memory usage) a collection of high-resource scripts will eventually slow a server/sim down. A script that uses additional resources temporarily while switching modes or processing data is less of a concern than those constantly using a lot of resources. Sim owners have a tool known as "Top Scripts" to determine which scripts utilize the most. With this information they may choose to restrict the use of or eliminate those scripts that have a tendancy of using lots of resources. For more information:
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Region_Performance_Improvement_Guide

The posted "ms" was obtained from a Homestead, this sim type typically indicates a higher resource usage than a private estate or the mainland.

Worth it for what you get

You might balk at the L$2K price, but you get a fully customizable ride that can be used as is, or reinvented as a ride for any occasion, not just Hallowe'en. You could make a 4th of July ride with small fireworks, etc., or tell the story of Cinderella, or ... the possibilities are really endless.

The uncustomized Hallowe'en version has flat prim ghosts and skeletons with alpha textures, but when you consider that you can remove them and replace them with whatever you want, the value of this ride becomes obvious. Even uncustomized, right out of the box, this is a satisfyingly spooky ride. Script usage is minimal and clearly explained in the notes.

Consider also that this was created by Kerhop Seattle, one of the best-known names in amusement-park rides in SL.

15x20m may not seem big enough to make for a decent ride, but when you're riding through it--especially with textures, at slow speed--it feels bigger.

Great Value!

Posted October 28, 2014 by Rivarman 5 stars

Let's face it, rides are few and far between on the Marketplace. Even worse, what you find may either be antiquated or overly expensive, not to mention a LI Monster.

This dark ride, however is still relatively cheap and a great value--you get not only a ready to run as soon as you rez it version, but a completely empty version as well, ready for you to customize to your heart's content. You can easily adjust the ride speeds and even have the option of having the ride vehicle do a few special movements vs simply following a path.

Just under 60LI for a Complete working ride? It was a no-brainer for me.

For those of you wanting to customize, Note the empty version is only a mere 29LI, and has plenty of rooms with places to display your various props and effects.
