The Magic Light is a spot light that is controllable by the Magic Lightboard HUD (included).
Now version 1.1 with resizable lights and advanced positioning controls.
It makes using the advanced lighting effects available in SL easy to use. While it is best used with "Lighting and Shadows" enabled in the Graphics preferences, it can be used without them as a controllable light source (as opposed to a spot light).
There are many aspects of the Magic Light that are controllable by the Magic Lightboard:
• Light source is On or Off
• Color
• Level
• Throw
• Falloff
• Light mask (not in the Mini version)
• Tracking the closest or specific AV
• Position and orientation
• Vertical center when tracking an AV (Height)
• Turn invisible
The Magic Lightboard is able to control up to 6 Magic Lights (SL only has support for up to 6 visible local lights).
Both the standard version and the mini version of the light are included. The standard version supports 8 selectable and editable lenses. The mini version (a single lens) only uses 1 prim!
- Configurable Spotlight (Projector)
- Magic Lightboard HUD included
- Will track an AV as they move
- Best Color Selector in SL!
- Single Prim Light included
Nice but a bit laggy
I love all the features on these lamps. Just what I need. But for todays standard the scripting are a bit heavy, meaning if you have 6 lamps rezzed, you have to be prepared for a bit of lag in responsetime. But still, overall, a great product. Well worth the money!
Love this tool TY!
I have looked at this for awhile and finally got it. I love it! TY so much!
3.5 Stars
While this set-up works fine, it is not without its quirks; hopefully the creator will update this system and address some of the issues. This is a good, but not great system as offered at the time of this review.
(1) No spotlight navigation control. You must use your viewer edit function for all adjustments - this can become tedious rather quickly when working with a multiple light arrangement. At this piece point this feature should be included.
(2) The spotlight itself is much too small! When photographing in ultra quality (shadows, occlusions enabled) with low or no ambient lighting, finding these tiny lights to make adjustments can drive you up a wall. While you can stretch the light in your viewer edit mode, it only adjusts the decorative prims, not the projector itself; this deformation causes a nasty shadow to be cast around the perimeter of the projector while it is visible.
(3) The spotlights are 14 prims each!!! WHY??? As I've mentioned, these are tiny spotlights - why on earth do they need to be a whopping 14 prims each? You can barely see the detail the creator is trying to impart due to the minuscule size of these things - 14 prims is superfluous and wasteful. A single or MAX 2 prim non-decorative projector should be included with this set for photographers on a prim budget.
If and when the creator updates this system, it could well become a 4.5-5 star set-up. I would gladly pay a little more for the improvements I've mentioned above.
Very Nice
Great product with lots of options. Just what I needed to light a stage.
genial!!
es un producto muy bueno, gracias a él puedo hacer fotos con sombra, aunque al principio resulte algo lioso :)
