Martello towers were built during the Napoleonic wars as a coastal defence around parts of Great Britain.
This is my version of a martello tower converted to a modern home.
Originally they would have a single cannon mounted on the top, on a rotating carriage
This version has the fighting platform converted into a living space, and a stair case to the door replacing the original ladder.
The three floors are about 11m diameter, linked by a stair ramp built with in the wall thickness.
The tower base is about 20 m diameter, with a further 6m needed to accommodate the staircase.
