Detailed Description:
This is the regulation battle dress (also called 'undress') uniform of senior officers who served in the Federal Armies during the American Civil War. This would be appropriate for the ranks of Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel. This would be worn in most activities, including daily service, battle, and semi-formal functions. More formal occasions would have the addition of epaulettes, medals, and more elaborate hat (none of which available at this time). This is perfectly acceptable attire at balls or most other Second Life activities.

Unlike the strict regulations set forth amongst today's military, uniforms during this period were widely varied. Of the combatants, Federal uniforms were much more standardized than Confederate uniforms, although there was still a great deal of variety depending upon the type of unit, the state they came from, or the whim of the commanding officer. Units such as zouaves, cavalry, Berdan's Sharpshooters, and other specialized units are examples of this variety. Also, personalization, especially among officers, was quite common. We have selected the most commonly used uniform in the Federal armies and allowed it to be modifiable if you wish.

Kepi: (Attaches to head) This beautiful cover is fully primed and shaped per historical standards. The officer's kepi is more detailed than standard issued kepis and accurately shows the recessed top, band and buckle, buttons and brim. This senior officer's pack includes six versions to allow the owner to select based on your role playing or personal preference. This is what each version denotes: Top with bugle: Infantry; Top with crossed cannons: Artillery; Top with crossed swords: Cavalry; Blank for user to modify. Any rank may wear the branch insignias, but indicating rank should match your shoulder boards (see below). The front badge is the standard 'U.S.' but can be modified if the owner wishes.

Frock Coat: This is a double breasted, 14 button front long coat with a flexi-prim 'skirt' (be sure to attach 'skirt' to your avatar for the frock coat or it will be just a shell jacket - it comes in 2 versions: Buttoned when the wearing the buttoned version of the coat and unbuttoned when wearing the unbuttoned version of the coat). Worn in cooler weather or more formal settings, it comes in 2 versions: buttoned and unbuttoned, the latter allows the vest to be seen underneath. It can be worn either way in any setting, it is up to the owner's taste.

Shell Jacket: Similar to above, except it is a short jacket (do not attach the 'skirt'), usually worn in warmer weather. It also comes in buttoned and unbuttoned versions (it does not have any flexi-prims).

Vest and Shirt: This 9-button vest is worn under either the frock coat or shell jacket. The 3-button front shirt with gusseted sleeves. It is baggy and loose as per the style of the period.

Pants: These pants have gold piping along the leg indicating senior officer status. Per period, they are loose and sit high on the waist and include the split back and all buttons.

Shoulder Boards: (These prims are attached to each shoulder) These emblems are worn on the shoulders by all officers to indicate rank. There are nine versions included in this pack to allow a wide variety of choices by the owner. This senior officer's pack includes three ranks: Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colon

A very well made Civil war Union uniform. Everyone that has seen me wear it on my AVI was very impressed on how well and authentic it looks.
