/!\ Warning /!\
Please see this list of appearance editor sliders that work and dont work before you consider buying this head https://utilizator404.wordpress.com/2018/06/06/bento-for-dummies/

Also please note that since this head is rigged mesh, you cannot resize and position it to fit your hair like you could with M3, and because of that it can look really weird with some hairs and fine with others. You just need to find the right hair.

This head is only compatible with texture mods specifically made for M3 Venus and M4 Venus heads.
======================================

You wanted it, you got it ! The M4 Bento Venus head is here! and now you can be one of the cool kids are riding the bento craze wave.

- What is Different from the other M4 heads ? -

Unfortunately, there are no alternative nose or eye socket shapes, but as a tradeoff the head is backwards compatible with M3 Venus appliers and retains the M3 tear effect!
you now have full compatibility with old M3 Venus appliers (skins, eyes, brows, lashes, blush, tears) as well as M4 Venus appliers, however because of this specific compatibility, other M4 and M3 head skins that were not made specifically for the venus head, will not work with the M4 Venus. One thing to note is that mouth uses M4 mouth textures instead of the mouth included on the M3 Venus skins.

As mentioned before, this particular head has the tears option, you can access it through the blush button by clicking it repeatedly till it switches from blush mode to tears mode. Due to a technical limitation regarding alphas, switching on tears, sets the eyelash texture to alpha masking in order to not clash with the tear alpha, this degrades the quality of some eyelash textures. One interesting thing we noticed very late into development is that for whatever reason that same alpha clash bug is not happening between the blush layer and tears, we will look into why this is happening (or more like, why its not happening) and hopefully we can implement tears in other M4 heads. A separate HUD button for tears will be implemented with future updates but for now if you wanna have both and you know what youre doing, first turn on tears and than unhide the blush using SL's build menu.

The default eye size setting is now size 2, if you make the eyes bigger in the appearance editor, use eye size setting 1 in the M4 HUD to match it.
The Rikugou necks will apply Rikugou skin tones to the rest of the head if you select a skin from the HUD, light skins will apply Rikugou A tone, dark skins Rikugou B
the LL/normie neck will apply its own tone to the head as well for the medium skin tone, matching the medium LL skin tone from the appliers included in the bonus item box.

How to use with Maitreya?
full star full star full star full star full star Posted March 08, 2019 by Judy Silvercloud

What neck should I try? Or how do I get this head to work with Maitreya Mesh body? My M3 worked well. Having some trouble with this? As I cannot move the head it's Rigged?

So happy to have Venus back, it was always the most versatile anime head. Thank you for upgrading this to bento!

Top Notch and Affordable

Nicely done UV maps. Efficient texture use. Unlike certain other anime heads (i'm looking at you ASR) this head doesn't dedicate a small portion of the texture to the face... the most important part of the head. In fact he uses a rather large mirrored swath for the face and you can double-down on the textures if you need an asymmetric face.

The head has an internal control script with all the animations, it responds to special chat commands to trigger animations or goes through a special HUD. Unlike certain other anime heads (I'm looking at you ASR) the HUD does not have to be worn for the animations to work. Nor does it trigger texture-space-warnings like they were going out of style. Again, efficiency.

Due to the way the head is rigged it works best with its own animations. Don't expect more normal animations to play nice with it. Par the course for slightly exotic heads. Animations are a little weird if you start pulling the head apart and rebuilding the animation system because you're a hopeless kitbasher. Not something I'd ding a head over. I don't like the near instantaneous transition from expressions though, snapping straight from neutral to smile and such. Blinking and talking are animated smoothly though, for most custom animation work I suggest reading up on the api in the design documents.

Utilizator supplies all textures and some handy mesh tools including something ot help bake a texture that you can blend the neck of your favorite skin to the neck of the various head colors.

The entire package is 600 lindens for a mod perm head which is an awful lot more then what most head makers will offer you for an awful lot less at top notch quality.

So in conclusion: why haven't you purchased this yet?

As an early buyer of the M4 Bento previously released, I was disappointed with the shape and had several gripes with it, so naturally I was semi-hesitant about this one. Looking at it, though, it looked more like the M3 Venus than how the M4 looked nothing like the M3, that is what made the decision so fast, that paired with the backwards compatibility of the M3 Venus skins. I have to say, it works like a dream, the backwards compat works great, the shape is great out of the box, and it's nice to have a smooth bento Venus head. This whole thing feels like the M3 Venus, just updated, which is fine with me, I'd dare say you could take the M3 Venus off the market and replace it with this, if it wasn't for one problem. The backwards compat is good, but it's not perfect. These heads use the neck adapter (Which I am more than grateful for, since it helps with seams,) but the legacy Venus skins don't have a way to adapt to the neck, which means that certain skins that are meant for a Venus/Normie body are impossible to use. Not much of a deal breaker, but it would be nice if at some point Utilizator adds an adapter of some kind to work with the old Venus appliers, that way you can utilize it to the fullest. Overall, worth the purchase if you primarily use Kemono anyways without a third party neck adapter.

Some Minor issues

So. After a long time i find out through a group that Uti finally release the M4 Venus. I was excited beyond measures and i bought it. Reasons for my excitement stems from having using the M3 Venus on a neko look i had way way back before Bento became a thing. And i totally adored and loved that look. Seeing the M4 Venus made me wanna revive said look. So i bought it and went to work on putting it together. My old eyes and head skin both went on without a hitch. Which is highly great. Then after some fiddling with the new HUD. (also here i wanna say props to bettering the HUD the heads come with. I like what i am seeing and how it works). After this comes the part that really makes or breaks my opinions of this head. The head is gorgeous and its Bento. It looks like a Venus still. And i love how it looks. But when i went to put on my Bento cat ears... My excitement was quickly stifled and halted. Suddenly my gorgeous head is all deformed and really not great.. Below i am just gonna attach a link to show what i am dealing with. Now after some more investigating. it does seem like its only on some types of Bento ears. As far i can see its just Aii's Save the ears fox ears and Aii's Neko'Neko ears from my collection. And thats just from my collection of them.
