VASI light (boxed)
This is a tri-colour visual approach slope indicator (VASI) light, used to indicate to approaching aircraft whether they have acquired the correct glide slope and to maintain the correct glide slope when acquired. It seems to have fallen out of favour in RL (in preference to other systems like PAPI) but still seems fashionable in SL :)
The RL light describes your position relative to the ideal glide slope with 3 coloured lights. Amber, green and red are the colours used to indicate above slope, on slope and below slope respectively. SL versions seem to have replaced the amber with white, so I've done the same. It's mod, you can always set the white portion to amber again :)
This light is built around a 14 degree glide slope (and yes, that's waaaaay steeper than RL's usual 3%, but this is SL). About 5 degrees either side of that and you'll see the too high and too low colours. That more or less matches the information coming from my much better (and not much more expensive) PAPI lights as they come out of the box.
The light is 100% mesh, so you'll need a mesh viewer to see it. Each light is 1.4LI, which should just use 1LI (I believe the land impact counter for a parcel rounds that 0.4 down unless you link lights together).
The light is 2m tall and 4m on each side. If you change that ratio then you'll affect the angle at which the lights can be seen, effectively altering the glide angle that the light's faces appear at.
How to use it
=========
Simply rez as many as you need, position them and enjoy!
They are unscripted, as you don't need any fancified lights eating up sim resources with needless resize/light scripting.
They are mod, so if you want to script them, then you can :)
Copy/Mod
=======
Yeah, copy/mod cos that's the way things should be.
It's really quite a simple prim to mesh build, hence the crazy cheap price :)
I didn't go crazy on the texturing.
It has one face on the top that you can retexture with chevrons, squares, spots, whatever sort of pattern/texture you need.
The grey body shares the same texture, so isn't that flexible. But hey, it ain't meant to be sporting a fancy racing stripe with clever UV mapping to accommodate intricate designs! It's a box most people aren't going to look at twice!
The lights each have their own face, and are tinted appropriately. Mess with them as much as you like!
Final words
========
Cheap, and low LI. Who doesn't like that?

- just 1.4LI per light
- no muss, no fuss, just simple copy/mod goodness
