The 1910 Spider (Die Spinne), named for all the support wires. Netherlands born Anthony Fokker's first aircraft that he designed, built, and learned to fly on. The aircraft we build is based on the 3rd incarnation of this plane (the first two crashed). He attracted alot of attention when he famously flew around the tower of Saint Bavokerk in Haarlem Netherlands on August 31 1911. This airplane won him recognition throughout Germany, which resulted in Fokker building the majority of their aircraft for WWI.
Anthony was known as "The Flying Dutchman" throughout Europe, and was the most famous aircraft designer for WWI. His planes were flown by some of the greatest aces of WWI. Such as.....
