In real world aviation, practically all aircraft have a GPWS, or Ground Proximity Warning System. It is an automated system that gives audible information to the pilot, such as altitude, warnings and approach information. The [XP] GPWS is a single HUD, no need to attach any items onto your avatar!
The [XP] GPWS Is the only GPWS in SL that can actively detect your climb/descent rate and play warnings and callouts accordingly. It works with any aircraft and will even function correctly at any airport, even elevated ones above the ground.
-The altitude callouts are very useful in determining your height above the runway or ground, it is especially useful in Second Life where judging your height can be difficult. The GPWS is able to detect if you are descending, ascending or staying level. This means altitude callouts are triggered only when landing, and don't sound when taking off.
-Performing extreme manoeuvres, such as diving downwards, climbing too fast, or simply falling out of the sky will trigger alarms and stall warnings. If you lose altitude after takeoff, you'll hear "Don't sink!", and if you decent too fast you'll hear "Sink rate!". If there is a sudden change in wind speed/direction, the "Wind shear!" alarm will sound.
-The GPWS will give you information regarding your approach to a runway. "Glideslope" will sound if your aircraft is descending at the correct rate toward the runway. "Approaching minimums" and "Minimums" will sound as you near the runway threshold. "Minimums" is called out at the decision height, this is the point where you need a visual on the runway in order to continue landing.
The following is included with the GPWS:
Altitude Callouts (ft)
--------------
-200
-100
-50
-40
-30

Warnings
--------------
Sink Rate
Don't Sink
Bank Angle
Wind Shear

Approaching Minimums
Minimums (+ Warning version)
The GPWS will function correctly at ANY airport, even if it's 3000 meters above the ground.
On the HUD, there are 4 altitude callout modes, these are:
(G) This stands for Ground. If this is selected (green), then the runway elevation is determined by the ground elevation below you. This is useful if the runway is at ground level. If the runway is (for example) 100 meters above ground level, then this will give none or incorrect altitude callouts.
(W) This stands for Water. This detects the Water level below the aircraft and will set the runway elevation to the water level. This should be selected if you are flying a float-plane (or ditching in the sea!).
(C) This stands for Custom. This lets you specify your own runway elevation, this can be any number you want. To enter your own elevation, click the (C) button, then type an altitude on channel 20. E.G: /20 58.4
(P) This stands for Presets. There are 20 preset runway elevations, mostly for airports in the Blake Sea area. You must click the (P) button, then cycle through the list with the < and > arrows. You can up to 10 additional airports to this list.
The price of this product will increase with newer releases, however existing customers will get FREE updates forever!

Would be an awesome HUD if it didn't have some bugs.
I really love the idea of the HUD, calling out alerts and warning about proximity like a real plan, however as mentioned below. There is a problem with the HUD during Sim crossing, it will yell 'Pull Up' Also, when parked at an airport it will alert 'Bank Angle even if the height and plane are set correctly. The last thing that would be nice is if it was a bit louder, and offered an option to play directly like the Passengers HUD because it can barely be heard.
I wish there was a feature to play the alarms/callouts manually, in case you do not want to have them play automatically. That would be amazing!.
Great, but...
... the engines of the aircrafts are louder than the GPWS. I can it only hear with Volume of my computer on the highest level, and then my ears flow away because the engines are to loud. Please make a volume button for the hud!
Nice!
Adds more immersion to your flying experience! However i always got a 'pull up' alarm on every sim crossing and hopefully it would be possible to turn up the alarm volume, because sometimes the engines sound louder than the alarms.
Looking forward to the next update.
Adds to your flight.
We all know what its like to fly in SL, throttle up, pull up, yay your flying. You hear the engines and usually that is all. This adds a realistic touch to your flights, your plane gives off alarms if you are flying erratically or about to hit something. I really like this.
My only gripe is when the system is throwing warnings for "banking" and I am flying level. Otherwise I love this addition to my flights and I highly recommend it for yours.
Not Bad
I like this device... The feedback it gives is nice, and functions well. It performs as it should and it will be exciting more innovations in the future.
