Details

A traditional Japanese paper folding fan called a "sensu."

This fan comes with two fanning animations, one held higher and one lower. A simple click will start it.

Sensu, which are decorated with beautiful pictures, were a status symbol in the Imperial Court. Sensu were an important daily article for Imperial family members and court nobles and eventually came to play a principal role in traditional theatre entertainment as well as in the tea ceremony. It is said that the fans used in medieval France were derived from Kyoto’s folding fans brought from Japan. They were carried by both men and women and used according to a strict code of decorum, and are still in use today in traditional pursuits and casually.

Please know this is not a dancing fan (maiougi); we sell those separately!
