Thank you for your interest in my bridge.
I got tired of not finding a decent bridge for free, so I decided to make my own and give it away for free.
I sincerely hope you will be happy with it.

You can modify prims as you wish, but the scripts are no modify. Note that the two scripts are in the root of each of the bridge tower and the drawbridge itself (the moving part). There is also a script in the lever, if you choose to make use of that.

The chain emitters and receivers must have the prim names and descriptions they have in order to function. If you replace them, you must make sure the new prims have the same name and descriptions.

You can also make the bridge shorter or longer as you please. Make sure you "edit linked" before stretching the parts. You may also want to not "stretch textures".

When the tower of the bridge is rezzed, it starts searching for the bridge, so it can ask if where to send the chains to. This might fail, if you don't rez the entire bridge at once, so it is better to rez a completely new bridge than to copy a bridge (or you can select all 3 objects and take a copy into your inventory).

You can save 3 prims by removing the far-side bridge support that the bridge lands on when going down.

You can set the bridge to automatically keep open or closed after a timeout. As the owner of the bridge, if you click it for 3 seconds, you'll get a menu with some options for timeout and whether you prefer it to be up or down.

To activate the bridge you must be closer than approximately 8 meters from it, and you must be on the correct side of it (as if you are inside a castle and control the gate). To open/close the bridge, you need to click it.

Or you can just say "/100 bridge" (owner only).

Another way to activate the bridge, is to use the supplied lever. If you choose to use it, here is the manual:

The lever is made of 3 prims. Everything is full perm, even the script.
You may want to try other textures and colours.

To move the lever you must bump into the knob of it.

Or you can keep the mouse clicked on the knob and then DRAG it a few meters (either direction).

Or you can grab an item which shoots physical objects (guns, bow, cannon etc) and make it hit the knob (works from the far shore, for instance). The Linden popgun in your inventory has physical "bullets" which are also capable of knocking the lever.

== API ==
There are various ways to interact with the drawbridge from scripts etc. Here is a description of the "API":

When the drawbridge starts moving so as to open or close, it sends a message on channel 100 (llRegionSay()):
bridge state up
bridge state down
If you send a linked message, you can also open/close the bridge
llMessageLinked( LINK_SET, 500, "bridge", (key)"up" );
llMessageLinked( LINK_SET, 500, "bridge", (key)"down" );
llMessageLinked( LINK_SET, 500, "bridge", (key)"move" );
And finally, if you're on the other shore you can just say "bridge" on channel 100 (owner only!).

It listens only for its owner (or things owned by him/her).

  • Drawbridge to span a moat or other narrow water passage
  • Controllable from one side only, but anyone can control it by clicking it.
  • An optional "remote control" full-perm lever is included, but not needed.
