So nice, so affordable
Ten years ago someone wrote in their review that they couldn't lower the volume of the crackling. I had the same problem but I could resolve it for myself. In the content of the link "logs" is a notecard '-config', I changed the value there, saved it, the stove restarted and the sound of the crackling was down to the volume I wanted.
