nice effect when used as it is made for...close to the surface of the water like a shallow lagoon or shore

Yes it is a flat prim. no it does not do much when deep under water line but YES it makes a difference when viewed from a few meters off the water line. It CAN be set to phantom and placed just under the water for a deeper water setting.
I used this on an island under the Trompe boat house and it looks fantastic! if you go into the water it's under the prim so no effect but from above it's magical looking.

This is meant to enhance your water by placing it under the water. It makes for a more realistic ocean atmosphere.
