Lacquer birds - geese

The world birds are thought to be a supernatural link between the heavens above and the earth below.

In the Middle East and Asia birds are symbols of immortality. In East Indian mythology, all birds represent a departed soul, and in Christian art, birds are often depicted as saved souls.

The crane is a symbol of long life and immortality. The eagle represents power, resurrection and generosity. The falcon signifies, "A Light that Shines in the Darkness". The nightingale suggests love and longing. The owl is often associated with death and darkness; but it also can bring wisdom, insight and virtue. The peacock heralds in springtime, birth, new growth, longevity, and love. And the tiny sparrow represents the love of God for even the "least"

The goose hasn't always received its full honor. Too often in myth and lore we see the goose representing silly attitudes or lazy dispositions. On the contrary, the symbolism of the goose is quite inspiring.

When we consider the goose never leaves one of its own kind behind, we begin to see the goose in a different light. Just like the US Marines, "Semper Fidelis" (always faithful) is the motto of the goose too.

Geese annually migrate to warmer climates during the winter. Should a goose become injured during this trek, another goose will leave the migrating flock to stay with its fallen comrade. The goose will stay with the injured until he has recovered or until its final breath. Nothing silly about that.

Indeed, this kind of valor puts the symbolism of the goose in a far different light. Here are some attributes of the goose: Communication, Determination, Fellowship, Teamwork, Confidence, Protection, Bravery, and Loyalty.

Geese are incredibly gifted navigators and instinctively know the way across the long haul to warmer climates. They forge ahead with confidence and bravery.

Further, geese have intricate methods of communication - not only do they sense when their brethren are in trouble, they also work as a team to communicate warnings of intruders, as well as messages of prime landing sites.

Vietnamese Lacquer ware is renowned for the finest handmade painted and inlaid designs. Vietnam is renowned for careful craftsmanship that makes its art uniquely recognized and cherished. Lacquer manufacturing techniques are thousands of years old and have not varied very much in all that time.

The Real Life process for each piece is months long. It includes carving, sanding & assembly before 16 to 25 steps of repeated coatings of clay and lacquer and hand rubbing. Each piece is carefully crafted using combinations of paint, seashell, mother of pearl, & eggshell, followed by detailed hand-painting and of course even more hand rubbing to attain the mirror-like high shine finish.

The surface areas are painted with polychrome lacquers. The design areas are painted with a special clear lacquer. The artwork is then entirely coated at least two more times with clear lacquer. Finally it is highly polished with wax.

Vietnamese artists use a technique which gives a richer mix of colors and an added sense of size and distance. Using common elements for color (egg yolk for deep yellows) is common.

Family, historic, modern, mythical, romantic, and traditional settings using sumptuous colors & stunning designs include deer, dragon, eagle, Koi fish, peacock, pagoda, students in their Ao Dai (the traditional Vietnamese dress), Ha Long Bay, rice fields, river villages, and even Wat Pho in Bangkok.

We show our entire collection here in the Marketplace. We rotate many of the pieces at ROYAL THAI GALLERY where we show the works in greatly enlarged sizes to help you see the details and wondrous colors.

Our standard size products are sold modifiable and transferable (mod/trans). Copies can be bought but not made. These are high definition, high resolution textures made from Real Life products we sell from RL Chiang Mai, Thailand and shipped the world around.

Our MINI (miniature) products are intended to serve the same function as mass-produced reproductions play in RL galleries and museums. These are faithful but much smaller and less costly reproductions, made available to the general public who want to enjoy our standard art but can't see their way clear... at present... to paying the higher prices needed for better quality.

The MINIs are sold as TRANS only. While the buyer can enjoy the beauty of the design, the MINIs cannot be enlarged to display the full range of the truly exquisite design details seen the larger products. Our entire MINI collection is here at Marketplace. We show some of the 200+ designs on our island sim.
