MANTUA COURT GOWN:
The Mantua is every bit as elegant and formal as the Grand Habit DeCour, but the styling is a bit different. Skirts are more square, and sometimes extremely wide. There is more often than not a train. Sleeve and bodice styling varies - sometimes more in the style of the Grand Habit, and other times more closely resembling that of the Robe Francaise. If a role play event states that the dress code requires you wear a Grand Habit, then you may wear a Mantua court gown instead, if you wish to. This style of gown is also frequently seen in Bridal gowns during the Rococo period.
This style of formal gown was highly popular in both France and Britain.
