From the first calls for revolution, to the civil war and beyond, the musket has served as a symbol of American resistance to state oppression. Even into the modern era, muskets remain a powerful symbol, and a central aspect of American culture. At no other point in history, however, was the musket so emblematic and powerful in the American imagination, as it was during the American Civil War.
This particular weapon, the 1853 Enfield Rifled Musket, was one of the primary firearms used by the Confederate forces during the American Civil War - having been smuggled in from the British Isles after access to arms from the Union Springfield Armory became restricted to those scavenged from the dead.
Typically firing either the .58 caliber minie ball, or the .58 caliber Gardner round, these rifles were renowned for the devastating carnage they caused to the human body - especially when combined with century-old Napoleonic tactics.
* * * In-game weapon statistics * * *
-Projectile size: 0.27m x 0.27m x 6m
-Projectile velocity: 200mps
-Reload time: 10 seconds
-Accuracy: moderate
-Melee range: 7 meters
This weapon fires very large projectiles with considerable accuracy at long ranges at the expense of fire rate. As such, some finesse is required to operate it effectively in a legitimate combat situation. When handled with care however, this weapon can prove to be an extremely effective dispenser of death. Fear no tyrant.
* * * Commands & instructions * * *
All commands can be given on channel 0, or 1.
"down"/"up" - Lowers the weapon - scripts disabled. / Readies weapon for use. Melee will remain active, if it is already activated.
"safe"/"unsafe" - puts away the weapon entirely / Equips the weapon.
To attach the bayonet, type "1" on the channel 1 or 0. It is used via the Crouch (C/Pgdwn) button.
Sitting on the ground will place your avatar in a crouched position. Doing so decreases hit box size, and improves quality of cover - though it completely restricts mobility. Use this feature tactically to protect yourself while reloading or otherwise vulnerable.
- Realistic muzzle-loading operation
- Custom, detail-oriented animations
- LLCS-based, with WWM version provided as well.
- Toggle-able bayonet
- Still combat viable
Best Musket on SL Marketplace!
This is a close second, but nonetheless, it's my favorite next to the Emperor's. I recommend to anyone out there that y'all buy this and use it in the Second Life Military Community. You can teleport to Unity Venture's sim to find people using these weapons. Test your ability on each other!
A True Display of Skill
With the threat of a looming 10 second reload, avoiding a misplaced shot is paramount. Accuracy is key. Find yourself holding the shot for the right moment. Till you see the whites of their eyes. The satisfaction of nailing the enemy, knowing that was THE one shot.
More often than not, there are moments where salvation is the bayonet at musket tip. Where the only move left is a charge. Press forward at no quarter, turning back is certain death!
Trust and focus on your own ability over the fire rate of your firearm.
Muskets. Tools of Freedom against Tryanny
so. my opinion of this weapon is if you are an American and don't own one of these.
BUY IT RIGHT AWAY!!! Muskets are a Symbol of what we became today. Without Firearms and the Second Amendment. the USA as we know it today. would not exist. now I've fought in the SLMC for a number of years. had favorite guns. and no so much. the M1 Garand of the Coercion Combine was my Personal Favorite Battle Rifle. there was a Musket in their armory but it didn't have that wow factor I was looking for. I sought out the persons involved in its creation. I thus came across this beauty here. the 1853 Enfield Musket of The Union. this although a single shot weapon. is the only other favorite primary weapon id ever choose. A Weapon of Skill is Only as Strong as the Persons who wield it. I am a proud owner of this Musket. and I think others should buy it too!!!!
