2 LI irregular shaped grass field - OPQ Grass Field 04 87 Version 2.4
(Important noe first: OPQ Plant Fields come in a large variety of shapes – much larger than any other plant fields on the market – to fit different lands. This is an irregular shaped field with a medium-to-light coverage. See the list of related items below for some of the other options.
The poster's background picture features a combination of the square field with a green and the smooth field with a brown texture. The small picture with a green shape shows the actual shape of this particular variant.)
+ Irregular overall shape
+ Medium-light coverage
+ Adjustable slope from flat to very steep
+ 10 different textures: 3 shades of green, 4 kinds of ripe/dead grass, 3 kinds of frost/snow covered grass
+ Resizer
+ Optional insect particles
+ And much more.
Are you ready for a green revolution? At OPQ we are on a mission to fill Second Life with lovely lush vegetation and for that we need low poly plant fields that don't lag you donw or spend you whole prim allotment.
This grass field is a good old fashioned sculpt, not a mesh, partly because it is possible to change the shape, (not only the size) of sculpts, mostly because a mesh field with as much vegetation as this would have a very high land impact. Sculpts don't have many uses today but this is one of the few things that are still better done with sculpt than mesh.
It's not quite like the traditional sculpt grass though. It gives a much denser coverage for a start and we keep the notorious "grass lag" down to an absolute minimum with alpha masign and optimized sculpt maps. It also features equal length panels meaning you won't get nearly as much problem with some plants being squeezed and others stretched as you do with traditional sculpt fields.
The most important feature, however, is the advanced yet easy to use script featuring:
+ Texture changer. Choose between 10 different textures: three shades of green grass, four shades of ripe/dead grass and three variants of frost/snow covered grass.
+ Shading and alpha functions to fine tune the appearance of your plant field.
+ Shape changer. Choose between flat or seven different amounts of slope.
+ Resizer that automatically adjusts the texture repeats to fit the new size. If you've ever tried to figure out the texture repeats after resizing a traditional plant field, you know how important this is.
+ Density. Adjust the texture repeats with a click on a button rather than with endless trial and error. A special feature here: with density set to 512 the field gives you 87 distinct cross-panel plants rather than the usual plant field mass cover effect.
The script even features some cool special effects:
+ Insect particles. Let the field spawn bees, flies or fireflies – at any rate from a single insect every few seconds to a massive swarm. The insects are simple particles but it's amazing how much life they add to a scene.
+ Growth. Do you want to watch the grass grow? Well, you can! Growth time can be adjusted from a minute to several years – if you really think you have the patience for that. ;-) (The growth feature only really works for flat ground shapes, not for sthe lope and hill shapes)

Do not adjust your viewer!
Well, you can if you want to but you don't have to.
OPQ meshes are made to look good with any standard graphics setting on any viewer and there is no need to lag your computer down with high RenderVolumeLODFactor. (And there's no need for ALM ("Advanced Lighting Mode") either but unlike the LOD factor which is only to compensate for poorly made mesh, ALM does improve the look of everything if your computer can handle it.)
