There is a special story behind this tree. Just as we were preparing our Nightmare Trees series, Linden Lab released a new premium membership gift, the Haunted Campsite. It's such a wonderful build and like so many others, we abslutely adore it.
It does have one flaw though: the land impact is way too high. So we thought, what if it had been made by an expert mesh maker? We can't reproduce the entire scene of course, but maybe we can do a test with one object from it.
---
This tree is inspired by the big tree from the Haunted Campsite. It's not an exact copy of course. Hte overall shape and size are simialr but there are lots of differences in the details - and the Nightmare Tree 01q has quite a bit more details too.
The main differences though, are land impact and lag. The Haunted Canpsite tree is 20 LI and 8316 render weight. The OPQ Nightmare Tree 01q is 7 LI and 1516 render weight.
Only slightly more than a third of the land impact and less than a fifth of the render cost. That is the difference between OPQ mesh and regular Second Life mesh.

+ Important note about LoD +
LoD (Level of Detail) is all about how much details are kept when an item is seen from a little bit of distance. Many SL makers cheat by making meshes with very poor LoD. That's why you often see items in SL breaking down into ugly shapes or even disjointed triangles. Sometimes they tell you to "increase your LoD factor" to compensate for the poor quality of their builds. What they don't tell you, is that increasing the LoD factor also icnreases the lag significantly.
At OPQ we *never* cheat that way. Our meshes are made to look good even from far away. After all, what good is a lovely big landscape if you can't actually see it?

I was just about to set up a spooky place to visit for Hallowe'en and needed a spooky looking but low land impact tree to perch crows in and this fits the bill perfectly! Thank you!

Awesome Tree and low LI

This tree is great - visible from quite a distance and can easily fit into a spooky halloween scene or just your typical winter garden full of dead growth. The tree is fully modifiable, but also comes with a resize script if you prefer that method. A wonderful gift indeed.

A great tree for not just for Goth/Vamp or halloween scenes but for any garden scene where you want to have something arching over a path or standing alone on a rock out at sea. Great mesh work can be seen for a long distance.

Spiky and spooky

This tree is not too menacing to use generally with other trees but works well in a spooky setting.

Here is a dead tree, as dead as dead can be!

The tree includes a freebie resizer script and instructions for using it...nice!
It took quite a while for the tree to rez, but my region's running slow and so does everything else.
It's a very dead tree, yep. All black and gnarly and spiky. Good for your Halloween landscaping! Or for a winter forest.

Nicest free dead tree you will find.
