See item in Second LifeVery pleasantly surprised, and exactly what I needed, but ...
At first, I didn't think much of this item from its scant description and single snapshot here in Marketplace. Still, I took a big chance and bought it (no demo and not inworld anymore). WOW, I was pleasantly surprised!!
Firstly, this small station (20x20m footprint including tanks and surrounding pavement) is COPY/MODIFY (not just "copy" as advertised). It is realistically proportioned and not as narrow as it looks in the picture. It has gorgeous dark brick and stone textures, and big, see-through alpha-texture windows on three sides (including the back!). It would fit in well with any modern time period starting with the 1920s (1920s-50s only authentic if you replace the pumps) The placement of the fuel pumps at a 45-degree angle is a great space-saving feature making this station ideal for tight street corners/ intersections. Both the tall gas station sign and fuel price sign above the pumps flash under the control of blinker scripts and add grungy ambiance.
The interior room behind the pumps is small, but has windows on all exterior sides and is big enough for a small gas station office, quick shop w/ cash register, etc. The single -bay garage is big enough for a SL car with room left over on the sides for a tool bay, etc., as well as for an avatar to move around. The garage door is a cool feature and works perfectly. This is exactly what I need!
Now to the "but ...": I don't give this a perfect five-star rating is because of door script problems (probably the other reviewer's concern, too). The exterior/interior doors of the "office room" open and close erratically, or sink into the walls. However, once the doors are unlinked from the rest of the build, they work perfectly - of course that means unlinking everything else, but I planned to do that anyway to make other slight changes.
I shopped around, and for a realistic gas/petrol station w/garage that fits a small space - with a bit of grunge - you really can't beat this!
