Muses
- Calliope (Καλλιόπη, ‘that of the beautiful voice’); muse of eloquence, beauty and epic or heroic poetry (narrative song)
- Clío (Κλειώ, ‘the one who offers glory’); Muse of History (epic).
- Erató (Ἐρατώ, ‘the loving one’); muse of lyrical-love poetry (love song).
- Euterpe (Εὐτέρπη, ‘the very pleasant one’); muse of music, especially the art of playing the flute.
- Melpomene (Μελπομένη, ‘the melodious one’); muse of tragedy. Tragedy as a difficult art that awakens ingenuity and imagination.
