The Adelie Penguin is native to Antarctica and is the most widespread penguin species in the world. They feed on fish and krill, themselves being prey for leopard seals and large birds such as the southern skua or giant petrels.
Breeding colonies are scattered along Antarctica's coasts and on a number of sub-Antarctic islands, including those in the South Orkneys, the South Shetlands, the South Sandwich Islands, the Balleny Islands, Scott Island and South Georgia.
