This Antiki-Taki Toki Tompion (MultiChime) Longcase clocks takes is name from and pays homage to the celebrated English Clock maker Edward Tompion (whose name may be seen on the clock face) who lived between 1639–1713 and provided clocks to British monarchs from King Charles 2nd to Queen Anne. Many of his clocks and watches still exist today where they command huge prices whenever they appear at auction.
The (5 prim Li) Longcase (or Grandfather) clock is superbly finished in rich veneers and truly beautiful and stunning inlaid marquetry which, we would like to think, sets it apart from many others in sl.
Features: As one one expect the clock boasts a number of features via a touch menu:-
The main menu provides a selection which enables one to (a) select the time zone (default is sl), (b) whether or not Daylight saving is used (c) whether or not the working second hand is shown (default is on) and (d) who has access to the menu
Time Zones are set by reference to main world cities
Chimes: The chimes menu enables a selection to be made between 5 different chimes or strikes namely:-
Strike-Gong: Srikes the hours and (once) on the half with a gong.
Strike-Bell: Strikes the hours and (once) on the half with a bell.
Westminster: The traditional Westmister chimes on soft gongs are sounded on all 4 quaters. The hours are also struck on a gong.
Cambridge: Before Big Ben and the Palace of Westmister were built, what became known as Westminster chimes were known as 'Cambridge' from the chimes at the church of St Mary the Great in Cambridge. We have used this old name to differentiate these chimes which on all 4 quarters are struck on 4 bells. The hours use a deep gong.
Whittington: Based on those of the church of St Mary le Bow in London, these chimes sound the quarters on 8 bells and the hours on a deep gong.
Additional buttons adjust the volume and also enable the various quarter hours to be tuned off or on (where relevant). The hour strikes can be turned off or on via the 'toll' button.
Test Play enables one to hear the various quarter strikes as well as the hour strike (the latter via Toll1, toll2 and toll3).
