One of the pair of stunning digital images within the installation that launches Neil Montgomery's new project 'Hybridisation'.

"HYBRIDISATION
Whether in genetics with the formation of new species, in molecular biology by the conjoining of complimentary DNA, in chemistry via the engineering of new bondable atomic orbitals, linguistically in the merging of one lect with another or in the intricate merging of culture, hybridisation is about the creation of new relationships.
The two images in this exhibition are hybrid flowers; not bred by a botanist but formed through the blending and harmonisation of two photographs. ‘Hybridisation – Iris Blue & Yellow’ fuses a Blue Siberian Iris with a Tall Bearded Yellow Iris, and ‘Hybridisation – Lily Bug 1’ brings together Nelumbo nucifera (Water Lily) and Lilium candidum (Madonna Lily).
The sculptures emerge from the complex simplicity of one twisted prim with a duplicate prim encasing it, textured in a fine mesh like a root system or neural network taken from another image ’Under the Skin’, derived from the intricate patterns produced by the branches of trees. I invite you to move inside the sculptures, look in close at the movement of patterns. Switch to a ‘Midnight’ environment then click the sculptures to create a new relationship between the fascial layer and the core.
Second Life offers a magnificent platform for many forms of hybridisation. Enjoy your relationship with these new forms."
