_____________

SETUP
_____________

1. Make a copy of your Builders Backpack in inventory and rename.
Wear and edit appearance as desired.

2. Drag your chosen inventory items onto the HUD image or into contents.

3. Touch to activate Builders Backpack.

3a. SEARCH BY NAME
Chat:
To search for an item, type part of the name in chat. Eg to search for Blue Couch, type 'Blue Couch or 'blu' or 'ouch' (not case sensitive).

3b. SEARCH BY CATEGORY
Menu:
Click 'List by type' then choose a category in menu to see all items of that category contained in the Builders Backpack.

3c. LIST ALL CONTENTS
You can choose "Show all" in menu or type 'all' to see a list of all items contained in the Builders Backpack.

4. As matching names are found, the Builders Backpack will report them in a numbered list in a private message.

Type the number next to your choice. If it's an object, it will be rezzed in front of you.
Otherwise it will be given to you.

You can also use "give list" (in menu or chat) to be given a named folder containing all the search results.
No-copy items will be given individually, not in a folder (SL limitation).

NOTES
________________

SL DEFAULTS

- Folders cannot be added to object contents in SL. If you need to keep things together, box them first or add an identifying word to the name.

- If you try to copy a no-copy item from the HUD to your inventory it will fail, because the HUD and its contents, although worn, are still *in* your inventory. You would have to rez the Backpack on the ground to retrieve them.

- There is no absolute limit to the number of items you can add to a prim, but it starts to take a lot longer for the contents to show after about 100. (This doesn't affect the cataloging of contents done by the Builders Backpack script, just if you're viewing contents in edit mode.)

________________

You can add any number of items you wish to the Builders Backpack, but there is a limit of how many names can be listed in chat (roughly 500 depending on the length of your item names). Builders Backpack will list as many as it can and if it runs low on memory, will inform you that you need to refine your search.

The Builders Backpack script is designed to complain before it runs out of memory, but if you should somehow manage to crash it, you can just R-click the box → edit → Tools menu → Reset Scripts in Selection.

Builders Backpack will automatically stop listening to chat after 3 minutes, as an anti-lag measure in case you forget to turn it off. Touching again will turn it back on.

Scripts will automatically be set to "Not Running" when added to the Builders Backpack. This is to avoid the hilarity that can ensue when multiple running scripts are added to one object. Avoid adding too many scripts at once, to give the Builders Backpack time to turn them all off. And obviously scripts that are designed to delete or modify other content or prim properties or generally "do not play well with others" should not be added unless you really know what you're doing.
Scripts without modify permissions cannot be turned off by the Builders Backpack script, and should be placed inside a box before being added. Builders Backpack will warn you if you add no-mod scripts.

For safe backup of copiable items, keep a copy of your Builders Backpacks in inventory and rezzed in-world.

No one else can access your Builders Backpack when rezzed in world, but if you want to totally hide it so even the mouse-over 'touch' icon cannot be seen, just rez another object on top of it.
